Jumbos make ME mad! Why is it that Popy made everything that should be white, BLUE! Getter 1's arms and legs are BLUE, Great Mazinger's upper arms and legs are BLUE.. it is as if WHITE does not exist at Popy. Then, all of a sudden.. WHITE on Raideen.. then they put a thumb on Combattler V.. and why does Mazinger Z have ROCKETS on him when he has no weapon? There must be a deeper reason behind it all.. I guess the Japanese at Popy figured that light blue looked alot more like white than white actually did.. maybe light blue is kinda like the Popy version of "chrome" in some sort of ancient Japanese symbolic way that reaches back to the days of the samurai or something.

I totally agree with you.
But for now, while I can still buy beat-up jumbos, I'll always enjoy modifying them to look as good as they appear in their anime shows. ;D

because the color scheme wouldnt work as well with the form. japanese are so aesthetically sensitive and balanced.

It'll take me a long time to understand it, but you may be right.
Still though..... things such as Super-robot color schemes (and spaceships/vehicles, too) look so beautiful and dynamic on TV and in (colored) mangas...
But then when you look at them on, say, a Great Maz jumbo (or any other robot jumbo toy), the dynamic visual appeal seems lost when replaced with the "uniformity" of Plastic-Blue such as what Gettershadow described.
My guess is that many (if not All) of us western fans have gotten spoiled (I'm spoiled, too) by all those dynamic vivid colors on Japanese robots and vehicles... that's mostly what won us over to the genre in the first place.
I used to watch Gigantor (Tetsujin 28) and Speed Racer (Go Mach Go) on black/white TV when I was a kid in 1st grade elementary school early around '71/'72... then I got to see the Raideen series on color TV in '76 and I was blown away at the color difference like eye-candy...
...then Mattel broke out with them Shogun Warrior jumbos in the late '70s (while Mego broke out with the Micronauts) I felt bombarded by all them bright vivid color schemes.
Hey, even if most of these jumbos have those typical blue limbs at least they're easy on the eyes! ;D
