I have a question for you guys. I have heard that the missile firing hand on a Mazinger first edition Mattel has only three screws on the front while a second and third editions have four. I have also heard that the first is a navy blue and the second and third are black. However, they all look black to me and the three-screw seems much more common than the four-screw, which would indicate to me that the three-screw should go with the second and third. Anyone know?

Do you know whether the four screw goes with the 2nd and 3rd editions? I know the three screw will fit either the first or second editions and I am wondering if it was just some manufacturing variation and either the three or four screw could go with any edition.

They all fit fine on any of the Mattel Jumbos. I believe Goldorak had the 3 screw version... But I am not certain it was exclusively.

I had a feeling that was true but some sources I was reading say differently. I think you are correct, though -- I think they are interchangeable and there was simply a design variation at some point.

Hi Here is a link that describes exactly what you are referring to. www.wildtoys.com/shogun/ShogJumbo/mazinga.aspOn the second paragraph is the first release info. I have only come across a blue mazinga firing fist once. I believe they are super rare. Hope this helps

This was the article I had been going off of when I set up the thread. I can't believe that, as many first edition Mazingers as there are out there, the blue hand isn't more common. I think that this was possibly just an early manufacturing variation, and that the black three-screw hand was also on the first edition. I have even seen a black four-screw hand.

I recall that Popy's Tetsujin 28 Jumbo Machinder had a blue missile hand, but I never recall Mazinger have a blue missile hand.
Could it be that there was a shortage and those blue missile hands were added from another robot?

Aloha All, I'm usually pretty quite when it comes to posting, but since I had the three I figured I'd lend a hand (no pun intended ;D). I'm definitely one sucker for the little details & differences when it comes to Jumbos so here's a pic of the three: There are also differences in the red shooting mechanisms. The earlier models have individual shooters, where the later is all one piece. My 2nd edition is from my "Euro" Mazinger and like the plider and chest piece the red plastic on the shooter fist is a darker red. My Tetsujin 28 fist, although it looks lighter in the pic, is the same dark blue as my Tetsujun. The fist has a lot less details and red shooter buttons are flat & smooth unlike the other models. Hope this helps.
