I think a 1/144 is about 5 inches, a 1/100 is about 6.5 inches, a 1/60 is about 12 inches, and this 1/48 is 15 inches.

I think a 1/144 is about 5 inches, a 1/100 is about 6.5 inches, a 1/60 is about 12 inches, and this 1/48 is 15 inches. This varies and is not always the case. It depends on the actual spec of the mobile suit itself. For a RX-78-2, off the top of my head, I think it is 18 meter tall. Shrinking it 100 time is 18cm, so 7 inches or so. But then there are mobile suits that are 22 to 25 meters tall. And you shrink those 100 times and make it 1/100 scale, it is 8 to 9 inches tall. The MG 1/100 Deathscythe He'll Custom is smaller in size compared to both, the 1/144 scale Sinanju and K'Shatriya.

The mega-size are more affordable than you'd think. I don't remember how much I paid for mine, but while it comes in a box the size of a Perfect Grade, they're pretty much just really giant HG kits scaled up a lot. I build the RX-78 and it took only a day or two (it took a little bit of paint to do some of the vents in the knees because entire portion was molded in white, so I wanted the vents to be dark grey at the knees).
As for scales, supergetterv is correct - Bandai is pretty good for keeping the kits in true scale. I have been collecting and building Gundam kits for decades and across the lines, even if it's consistent (I like 1/100 scale), there's a distinct size difference when it's a kit from Gundam Victory compared to a kit from something earlier in the timeline like War in the Pocket. Which makes sense since mobile suits got smaller as the timeline went on.

I wish they would make a 1/48 Unicorn. For me the thing that lets these larger scale models down is the detail. It's got less movement then most of the 1/100 scale kits

Is this 1/48 RX78 new? He looks big! I've only got two gundam kits (built by someone else), but I'm not much of a Gundam collector. Still, this 1/48 scale RX78 makes me wanna drool! zozo-mag Size comparison from 1/200 to 1/48.

I really llike these 1/48 Mega size, it fits my needs - easy to build, big size, enough details and reasonable cost.
I hope Bandia will release more GundamS from every different series... even some robot like classic Guntank and Guncannon, that would be heaven!
