Yet again, E-Bay seems to have duped me into watching a listing on a rare JM only to find out that it was a sham the entire time.
I'm writing about the GodMars/GodMarz jumbo machinder that just ended on E-Bay for a sales price of $5655. It was a MIB GodMars, with unapplied stickers and the best condition GM I've ever seen. The 'winning' bidder and the 'seller' had one highly noticeable thing in common; they both had feedback scores of (1).
What I did find intriguing was the underbid at $5555usd. So, unless the underbidder knew the listing was phony all along and intended to falsely inflate the price just to tease a disengenuous seller, someone out there was willing to pay that for a MIB GM.
This seems to be the second such scam listing in recent weeks on E-Bay, the first being the Grendy Spazer that closed out at just under 100k usd!!
Does this sort of bulls*%# take place on YJ? Sounds like a seller who just wanted to gauge the JM market and was willing to pay a small listing fee to see where the market stands.
Any thoughts on this? Ideas for stopping it?

I do not know 100% for sure if this godmars transaction is a fake scam listing, I hope anybody that knows can also contribute. IF IT IS REALLY A SCAM, i really do not understand why they want to do it and let ebay earn substantial fees and commission given the high sale price. It seems a high price to pay to estimate the JM market.
I did not attempt to buy the godmars, here are my 6cents worth of thoughts:
1) Any sincere seller will actually put in more info like shipping fees, how many days payment is expected, modes of payment shipping methods etc to avoid repetitive questions asked by interested buyers. The seller seems too "cool" on his listing, only 5- 6 sentence for such a prized item.
2) For a godmars keeper, he should have alot more records of buying or selling history and 1 feedback is hmmm...
3) The 1 feedback winner seems to have put a WIN AT ALL COSTS bid of maybe 100k lol...I will not bid this way. This look to me like a bid to prevent bidders from winning.
I still give the benefit of doubt, and I hope its a real deal. The last godmars MIB JM i saw in ebay, coincidentally was listed BUY IT NOW USD7,000 but the item was not sold, also from Hongkong.

I am not sure on the Godmars auction. But, I wouldn't put much faith in a seller that has a feedback of (1) and that was from being a buyer from many months earlier.
The Spazer ship on the other hand was ousted by some fellow jumbo collectors and went on a bidding spree to get rid of the auction. More posts on the jumbo machinder facebook page when the auction was live at the time.

wow, are there any japanese members here that will come out and say it? you guys are dizzying yourselves in a storm of cash and buzz words, so sellers are able to write "really expensive" as the selling price.
jumbos are hard to find, but not quite the grails they are made out to be here unless its the usual several items no one can likely ever have.
i avoided toy shops last trip and enjoyed myself and took my time in random junk shops, etc. saw some jumbos, nothing ultra rare, but i also didnt see anything like the prices on ebay.
if youre a box collector, different story. otherwise, the fanfare type of speculation justifies the insane prices youre willing to pay.
what i did find last trip is that a lot of shops dont want to sell to foreigners, in part, for this exact reason.
