^ I take it you haven't played a standard SRW game? It's a strategy role-playing game series using licensed mecha anime shows with a few original characters or, in the case, of the Original Generation line, a full cast of completely original characters.

Too bad Nintendo decided to region-lock the 3DS. Hopefully, someone will crack the protection scheme soon enough. There's not enough interesting imports to justify paying for a Japanese console just to play them. Nope never played SRW. Is it like advanced wars for GBA? Similar, yes.

I hear ya. I can only imagine trying to score a Japanese console from YJ and trying to get it to work here in the U.S. ...Voltage-wise. Our voltage standard is AC 115-120v, and in Europe its 220v. I wonder what Japan's AC voltage is. All that headache just to play a few jpn console games.

Japanese voltage is 100V. They use identical plugs and you can technically plug a Japanese appliance into a US outlet, and vice-versa, but the slight difference in frequency probably wouldn't be good for high end electronics.

The US 3DS power adapter has the same output as the Japanese one. So you can use a US adapter to recharge your imported Japanese console. The real problem is how much it would cost to import that console just to play a handful of games.

Yep. Downloadable DSi games were region coded (as well as some DS cartridges with DSi features, apparently), but on the 3DS they region locked everything. You can still play Japanese DS games, but 3DS imports won't work on a US console.

Yeah. The whole region lock thing on 3DS totally took me out of the import gaming on Nintendo. More than half of the handheld games I buy were Japanese imports. But I am not going to buy a 2nd 3DS just for that (not to mention importing at a much higher price too). So Sony is getting my money now, with PS Vita able to play Japanese Vita & PSP games as long as you have a Japanese PSN account. Playing the older 2nd SRWZ instead, which is very awesome.
