Over the past couple of days I have received:
Grendizer.
All original parts and decals.
The toy is in extremely nice shape (for being almost 40 years old) and has very few indications of play wear.
Both of the Hariken parts are intact. They were a bit messy when I received them but it only took me a few minutes to clean them up. Now they are nearly perfect with just a tiny bit of yellowing on the shafts and none on the blades.
Feet are unscuffed and the wheels look almost brand new.
All of the factory decals are present but they do show signs of age and the paint on the head is a bit scuffed. The neck is in pretty good shape but does have what seems to be the almost obligatory small crack in the front.
Overall though it is in nice enough shape that I don't think that I will attempt any "restoration" to it at all.
The Popy Jumbosaurus (Godzilla)
I have been wanting this toy since the first moment I knew it existed. While I loved the Mattel version when I was a child, the simple fact is that toy just does not look like Godzilla.
Which is why after seeing this version on TV last year I knew I had to have one.
This poor guy has been floating around on YJ for months with no takers due to the rather high price the seller had been asking for it. However a few weeks ago the seller started slowly lowering his asking price and when it finally hit $280 I grabbed him.
I imagine that part of the reason for the hesitancy people probably had in purchasing this one was due to the owner stating in the listing that the voice box "roar" wasn't really working.
However... Once I got it home I went ahead and opened up the chest, took apart the sound box and blew out 25 years worth of dust.
Now when you pull the string you can actually recognize the signature "Godzilla roar" once again (although admittedly it still sounds like an old recording from a 78 record).
Mattel Gaiking
Not my favorite toy (especially since I already have the U5 version) but it was cheap and in nice shape with missiles, rocket hand and working launchers so here it is.
Not 100% certain if this one will be sticking around though.
Mattel Daimosi (Daimoses?!? Just what is the plural of "Daimos" anyway?)
These two fellows have arrived and will be conducted to the holding area to await some experimental surgery sometime over the new few weeks.
I also had a few other "junk" project pieces arrive as well which I will post once I have a chance to get into them and see if they can be brought back to life.
All things considered though, it has been a very busy couple of days for my mailman..
