I'm also working on Garada...and I want hime to look like the first Garada shown on Mazinger Z, but WWOOWW is that tough...it would be easy for me to make my own design, of a skull on a flexible neck, but I want it to look like Nagi's design. here is what I have so far, please give any comments good or bad, so I can make it look just perfect, because I will be casting this also

I have a piece I made that goes on the back of the head to make the skull go all the way down to the neck..but not sure how it will look, I'll attach it with some super glue, and post the pix

The Doublas head looks good, but a little too big in proportion to the body. Remember, you have two of those heads to work with... To make sure it's the right size, compare it side by side with Great Mazinger's head and that should help you scale the head down a little bit to the proper scale. If the head's are too big, the two of them could make the body fall over from their combined weight. As for the Garada head, it looks good. It just needs the back of the skull to be finished. Then you must figure out how to mount Garada's large Boomerang sickles. Overall, nice work there, keep it up! Can't wait to see the finished specimens. zozo-mag

Thank you all.... Is Doublas heads the same size as Mazinger z's or a little bigger ?? I thought that the head looked too big, but needed a better opinion..

Roughly about the same size as Mazinger-Z's. For all the jumbos ever made, the heads (without the fancy horns and fangs) are roughly the same size ( except Raideen's head, since it's all a one-piece two-part mold with the face-shields and fangs)... ...That's why I suggested you use Great Mazinger's head as a visual reference to make Doublas' head scaled to that same size so it will look proportionate to the body. zozo-mag

I thought the same thing, then I turned on episode 2 of Mazinger z..and it seems that doublas's heads are smaller than mazingers....about 1/3 of his chest width..the neck is almost the same size as his head....but that would look wayyyyyyyy to small... I made another head out of heavy paper, a little smaller than the last one, and close to mazingers head size..I'll post the pix, in a little bit..I also added the back piece to Garada's head !!!

Keep in mind that the Mazinger series had so many artists drawing the characters throughout the series that things never looked consistent back then in that show. Your best bet is to stick with the other jumbos original head sizes as a reference. As for attaching Doublas heads to the body, you're doing good by using vacuum cleaner hoses, and those hoses are the right size. Just make sure the back of the heads attach all the way back towards the first ribs of the hose in order to hide that long blank un-ribbed section.... ...if that blank section is too big to allow the head to fit all the way back, you can trim some of that section off. The most important thing is to snap the head on the first rib at that end of the hose so the head stays on and won't fall off. zozo-mag

This head is just about the same size as mazinger Z's....head...as for the necks, I left them long, because I wasnt sure how the heads would attach..i just barely had the head pushed on for the pix....The teeth are made from a piece of clear plastic, I painted the back yellow, and put the black lines on the front, to add diamention.. i even left tabs this time to attach the ears/ horns....what ever they are !!

Here I added the back part to the head of Garada.....I think once it's filled with resin, and sanded, it will look a lot better

I like the shape of the first head I made, it just needs to be smaller........I think ? tomorrow I'm gonna take the plastic shell off the 2nd head, and start with the resin i poured inside of the head..maybe add a layer of filler plastic ( bondo) and try to get the shape of the 1st head, just smaller ??

Good luck bro! Resin is hell to work with. Why don't you make the smaller heads using the same technique as with the first one?
