Hi guys, I recently purchased a Daitarn 3 from my local toy forum sale thread. The seller posted it up as a '70s MIB Jumbo Machinder Daitarn 3 licensed by Nippon Sunrise'. I did read up before on a known Junior Machinder Daitarn 3 on CollectionDX and got all excited and called him immediately to check certain details before confirming the deal as the seller only posted a picture of the box. The seller told me that it's about 12" and made of hard plastic and I assumed that he meant polyethylene since it was posted as a Machinder and thought that it is the same toy as CollectionDX's with a variant box. The seller was nice enough to deliver it by hand to me, but upon checking the item, I realised the Daitarn 3 toy is bigger at 14" tall and is actually a battery operated hard plastic toy instead of polyethylene. I honoured the deal and paid him since he came all the way and it was my own wrong assumption. What I like to know is if this toy is genuine? Cos upon checking the toy again, I realized there isn't any license marking on the toy except the 'AL-Es' brand logo, a 'HC' logo and 'Made in Hong Kong' marking. Whereas on the box the white circle part for the 'AL-Es' logo is missing but there is the 'Nippon Sunrise Japan' wordings printed there. Pics attached below. Thanks!

I am not 100% sure but it looks like an Italian KO release of the junior machinder.
The original version has a box that has blue and yellow on it i beleive. I haven't looked at the CDX review in a while and the Junior Machinder does show up on ebay, generally for sale from Italian sellers.
The language on the box is definitely Italian and ALES was known for that type of Hong Kong KO stuff. They are the same company that imported/sold the diecast Tark and Zork KOs of Space Knight Tekkaman.
If you don't mind my asking, how much did you pay for it?

Actually the deal ended in a swap for a Hot Toy figure which I paid USD180 and is worth slightly more now. I don't mind but I thought it is original. Thanks for your reply.

Not a problem. Just giving you advice on what I am familiar with. I'd like to know if I am correct or not. Can anyone verify what I have said based on the pictures of the toy he bought?

It is "genuine", so to speak. It was not made in Japan, but then again there was not one made in Japan like this. Same with the smaller one you are thinking of. I think it is even more rare than the smaller one too. So it is a good pickup. Its one I have been looking to add to my collection one day.

;DThanks, that's great news to me. I like this size better too and don't mind if its not made in Japan, was just kind of bothered if its not original since the seller posted it up as a licensed toy. Hope you pick one up pretty soon, best of luck! It is "genuine", so to speak. It was not made in Japan, but then again there was not one made in Japan like this. This is the last issue, there are other 2 that were much better, with slightly different and larger box cover and, last but not least, with "flat" chromed parts (not "reptile-skinned" like this poor one)

I dont mind the 'reptile skin'. Lol.. I just feel that he is quite small placing besides the rest of my other JMs and I don't like his non colored chrome face.
I have traded him for a Gorg JM anyway.
