I don't like Great Mazinger's thighs. But after reading TheMazingerZ's comment, I like it less...

haha, I can see what you mean! That particular pose is not manly at all! It would have been better if that posed was used with Great Mazinger carrying Venus A instead, or Mazinger carrying Aphrodite A even.

It's the legs (and the fact that they look like they have some robo-booty). On both of them. They just look very feminine on both and the baby blue legs just don't sit right. It's a little eerie and a little flamboyant.
Definitely not trying to hate or bring up an argument for or against alternative lifestyles - but this is one of the first mazinger related items I have ever seen that I just feel hurts the image. If they were going for the whole "saving a fellow fallen brother after the battle" theme I feel they really missed it. It's too bad because other areas of the sculpt are great.
Was this supposed to be taken from an anime or manga scene or was this statue pose made up by the artist?

Nothing like that ever happened in the anime or mangas. Great Mazinger did carry a busted up Mazinger in one of the mangas, but it looked just like I said - Great Mazinger carrying a busted up robot. This pose totally reminds me of when Mazinger was carrying Minerva X into rhe ocean after it was "killed" by Aphrodite A. }D

I can understand what that statue is conveying: "Carrying a wounded comrade". I think it would've been conveyed better This way... ...you know, the shouldered-buddy look. At the same time, both Mazingers' robot features can be more visible. You can barely see Great Mazinger behind Maz there. zozo-mag
