Id like an eva-01 but there are SO many versions from different companies that I cant decide.
I already have the SOC and many say it is the best. Ive been looking hard at the Medicom RAH Eva-01 which got a great collectiondx review, but mixed opinions from the RJ boards.
I know they all have positives/negatives, but which Eva-01 is the best all around when factoring:
1) articulation 2) quality 3) resale value/rarity 4) diecast (diecast doesnt equal better imo, but always a nice plus) 5) gimmicks (i LOVE gimmicks, they can make or break a good bot)
Thanks in advance for anyone who contributes to this post.

Add: I have the SOC GX-14. How is this different from the SPEC version XS-01? It's not the same figure at all. The SPEC version have a different sculpt, different color (darker metallic paintjob for the SOC), are considerably taller and have removable armor pieces. Check this link for a side-by-side pic of the GX-14 SOC and the XS-01 SOC Spec : www.flickr.com/photos/dedguy/5189050600/I have the Awakening version of the Rebuild EVA-01 (XS-13) and the GX-14 above. IMO, the SOC Specs are more impressive.

Should I be satisfied with the gx-14, or do u feel the Specs are so much better that they too are a must have? If so, which SPEC is the best? The XS-13?

Imo, Spec XS-13 EVA 01 Eva 2.0 version win the race.
XS-03 is badly engineered : mine has left hip broken (common default) -> renewal XS-03R is better.

SPEC line is a toy line with figure having a main frame with shell parts you add to complete model.

The Specs seem to be the desired versions, but I think the older SOC line has some charm and an awesome stand. Not to mention the SOC goes for fairly cheap these days. The RAH Medicom Eva is probably the ultimate Eva toy right now though. www.collectiondx.com/toy_review/2013/rah_neo_evangelion01_test_typeIt's the best representation and the best poseability.

Nice! I actually got the collectors editon from some guy in Chile who had pre-ordered it and then didn't have room for him.
He sold it to me for $260 shipped, which is pretty damn good for aftermarket.

I don't think that's the Medicom. But I could be wrong. Sculpt looks different. That looks like a display statue and not an action figure.

Medicom version is a big action figure more than a "mecha toy" It's anime accurate (shape and colors) and very articulated. But poor in detail to make it looking like a giant mecha. @ Sadpanduh : Anima Chogoking is better than SOC version and is diecast too. But design is special, more sharpened. I digg it !

I think the detail on it is fantastic. Better than any smaller toy. Not sure what you mean by saying it's not a mecha toy... it looks like a giant mecha to me.. it just isn't created with any diecast.
The medicom is def. most line art accurate and the most poseable. It's basically a blown up version of the Spirits line from Bandai with more detail and poseability.
People seem to think that Eva's are chunkier than they really are in the cartoon for some reason. I guess because that's the best representation toy makers have been able to do up until this point.
The Anima Chogoking doesn't really look like an Eva at all to me. It's too bulky and video game like. Almost a Halo suit? Cool toy though.. just looks weird.
