Yamato 1/12 Melquiya decals meaning

Hey there Robot fans,

Not too sure where to put this thread, so I put it in General discussion.

Well, I'm kinda stuck, got a 1/12 Yamato Votom Melquiya figure (the purple Votom). Thing is...I cannot seem to find any info as to the meanings of all the stickers/insignias.

Let me explain, there are various possibilities/combinations of stickers depending on the rank of the fighter what brigade etc. The standard one from what I gathered has a little rainbow looking flag and fish looking symbol.

But there are other stickers for other ranks (I assume...) that look much better...

The big 'R' stickers is for the red Shoulder special regiment from the Gilgamesh Confederation, the yellow and black one from the Balarant side, I think...I'm not a Votoms pro (even though I loved the anime). I cannot remember seeing any symbols aside different colors AT's in the anime.

Does anyone have any clues / links of sites (I looked but to no avail...seems people just stick theirs like it's shown on the box...or don't stick anything at all to keep them MIB.

Any Armored Troopers experts anywhere could give me some insight about the meanings of those symbols?

On a separate note...that toy is AMAZING!!! Yes, it's not a Soc it's in plastic does not have the charm of the vintage ones bla-bla..but seriously..the details and built are just mind-blowing.
I never expected the 1/12 to be so cool. I wonder if the 1/18 DMZ from Takara are any better. I'm rambling....sorry..

I have this toy too. I just copied the box pics on mine. I only saw a few episodes of the show, and have no clue as to the meanings of the various insignias. I guess you can't go wrong with any sticker configuration you choose. Have fun - go with what looks best to you!

Yamato's line of 1/60 Macross Valkyries have a guide showing where to apply each of the decals provided, around the first page of their instruction manuals.

Being this another Yamato high-end toy, I would suggest looking in the first pages of the instruction manual, if you have not done it already.

Well yes, there is a stickers guide, but for a lot of the stickers, you have various choices and combinations possible like A,B or C with stuff written next to each in Japanese.
The sticker sheet (actually sheets..there are 2) have different logos that correspond to various grades/types of that same Votom. I'm trying to figure out which corresponds to what grade etc..

The main logo, like it is pictured on the box resemble the Gay flag. And..the robot is purple, so as I already have a pink 'gay' Zaku from Gundam, for that Votom I wanted a different theme.

Joking aside, I'd like to understand what the various combinations mean as far as military grade in the 'Votom universe' .But there is nothing on the web that I could find on the subject.

It's true, I could just put the ones I think look best...I'm not that obsessed with that show or anything (O.k..lying, slightly obsessed with it...) .

I hear ya. You want to understand the meanings behind them rather than blindly copying the box art. I unfortunately can't direct you to the appropriate info. Hopefully someone else can. But in the end, if its that hard to identify, then who will question what you choose?
