So the news that they are supposedly going to announce in a couple of days with the new Mastergrade Evolution is anther MG 1/100 RX-78-2, version 3.0. It was speculated but is now confirmed. So far, the only RX-78-2 that I built is the RG and really enjoyed that one. It was the reason that I got my interest back into gunpla. I mean, in all the previous Gundam Kits that I built prior to the RG, all of the prior kits were seriously lacking in details and required so much in terms of color separation and painting, but the RG, the out of box build without painting looks professional and great. So on the one hand, I am happy to see the MG line incorporating technology and details from the RG line but the news of another MG RX-78-2 is somewhat of a disappointment.

Looks like Hobby Show 2013 is finally underway and we've got plenty of announcements to cover. I'm actually pretty excited about the MG RX-78-2 Gundam 3.0 . Bandai has had years of engineering to get us to the pinnacle of MG tech and this might be it. I can certainly see why some folks might be underwhelmed with this news (Another Gundam RX-78-2), but I'm sure this is only the beginning of a new wave of killer newMaster Grades. So on with the news. Tons of stuff on display,,,, MG Gundam 3.0 MG Geara Doga RG Gunam GP01 and GP01Fb HGUC Mesala Coming soon HGUC Zogok HGUC Dooben Wolf (UC ver.) HG Astray Gold Frame Amatumina More Pics News and info are located at the link below and across the web: gundamguy.blogspot.com/This is only day one! We'll see what else comes up I suppose.

I'm pretty interested in the Real Grade GP-01. I just recently started picking up some RG kits and they're really, truly quite amazing.

I'm pretty interested in the Real Grade GP-01. I just recently started picking up some RG kits and they're really, truly quite amazing. how is it build??? is it like a small size MG with more articulated features and gimmicks??? You can say it is a 1/144 scale MasterGrade. In some ways I found that the RG line is a little more advance than the MG. It's the reason they are relaunching the MG line with a 3.0 version of the MG RX-78-2. They are incorporating some of the feature from the RG line, in particular, the multiple part color separation. The RG line is well known for the multiple tones of the same color. It has more realistic details, and is based on the 1/1 scale statue which has multiple panels and hatches, something that the original animation didn't have. From experience, I can't say for sure that the articulation is better since articulation varies depending on the mobile suit and mobile suit design. The gimmicks are usually sliding panels on the thighs, knees, not sure about the elbows. This is one of the features they are using on the new MG, to have armor pieces connected to the inner frame and move along with the frame. With the RG RX-78-2, the core fighter can transform and be plugged in. Seems like the RX-78GP01FB & GP01 will also featured this. Open hatch to the cock pit similar to the MG and it comes with pilots. Comes with a pilot but not the sitting type that goes into the Gundam. Not sure if I will be getting the new Ver 3.0 RX-78-2, since I have the RG and also a unbuilt MG Ver. Ka. Maybe I should just built my Ver.KA.

Yes, indeed! Those RG kit's are pretty damn awesome. I actually got pretty worked up during my build of the original RX-78-2. It's been a while since I had that kind of experience with Gunpla or any kit. The RG line is pretty nice. Thinking of getting the Mk II and the Zeta at some point. Probably pick up at least the GP01. Hell, it's looking like they even got the Kawamori proportions pretty accurate!
Bandai have released their promo vid of the new 3.0. - it's pretty exciting actually. I've already preordered. This should be damn cool.

i am kind of disappointed in the Geara Doga it looks so plain, with the new Mg Nu Gundam and the announcement of the MG Sazabi 2.0 look awesome but this one looks too retro like they were trying to emulate the art designs of the earlier Chars Counterattack MG kits from the early 2000's it does not look like it will fit in on the shelves with the newer kits . I love the Geara normally even for the most part the kit I see here on display but i was hoping for a updated MG kit to match the newer ones they have released. all well i am sure there will be a converison kit at some point

HLJ YouTube channel has a good feature on the Bandai booth showing off all the kits. The guy even picked up the new kits and showed how the parts moved. Seeing the version 3.0 next to the MG Nu ver Ka, I am more convinced to just pick it up and replaced my RG. The guy on the video metioned that the copper parts on the elbow joint is not a sticker and is molded in color. This was one thing I didnt like about the RG, them copper colored stickers didn't stay on all that well. I will probably create another shelf only for the RG only. Both GP-01 are really tempting. If I didn't have a back log of kits to build, I would order them. The MG Geara Doga's inner frame is so nice, It is a shame it is covered up with the plainness of the look of the outer armor. You guys should check out the video and see the yellow runner on the Geara Doga. It is soft flexible rubber, don't know if this was used in previous kits.
