Had it been the old school suit one I would've bought it. But I'm not too fond of the Spiderman Suit Superman. }D

DC had no choice but to change the look and re-boot the whole DC Universe. The lawsuits from Siegel and Shuster's forced DC to change the classic look. Only now has the courts finally decided that WB owns Superman completely but the families of the creators could still take the case to the Supreme Court.

I can understand why you would want diecast in a robot, and even in a Saber or a Gilgamesh, but why would you want diecast in a Superman figure? Is it supposed to be a play on the whole "man of steel" thing?

Not feeling this toy. Don't like the quality on the face. I've seen better sculpts from the DC Direct line "The New 52" - I haven't followed it, but most say it is a very good story line... I wonder how many years they will get from this run.
I love Superman (Have the 30 inch figure from Superman Returns) and a bunch of other figures through the ages. Humanoid action figures should not be Die Cast. Not worth it. Porcelain is a better media for action figures.
IRON MAN or others of the same ilk are exceptions. Those Die-cast models I can buy into. Probably just the robo aspect to them.

Personally, I just use the fact that the new 52 suits look more like form fitting armor than spandex. Everyone's diff though Actually owning bats, its just awesome to have a 1/6th with that heft and feel.

Well, it's the "man of steel"..... so, why not celebrate it as a die-cast rendition! The pun fits this here specimen perfectly! lol
Robots are people, too... People are die-cast, too... ...Can't we all just.. get along? ;D

Even though I'm buying it, what throws me off about superman are the very "human" angles throughout the suit. The diecast "works" more on their bats because they gave the suit more angular bends throughout the suit, rather than the smooth curves, and even though it looks form, fitting, it gives much more of an "armor" vibe: I wish they would have gave Superman some more angular designs like this throughout his suit area.

I see what you mean, the look suits Batman better. Batman is just a normal human with no super-powers, except for his natural physical strength and ability. Over the years he's evolved from being an ordinary Gotham City crime-fighter to what we see now as a modern-age high-tech vigilante with a darker "Geiger-esque" touch added, and his armored suit kinda reflects that evolution.
Whereas, Superman, or "The Man Of Steel" is a humanoid physical super-being from another world with an impervious body... the suit is just an ID cliché based on the Superman character, so he don't run around the streets all butt-nekked... ...hey, even Superheroes have to wear clothes! lol
And given Supe's impervious body structure, it's as if he really doesn't need a suit of armor. Therefore by die-casting his ole spandex suit, it kinda throws him off a bit since the suit has to form-fit his muscular body... and so it didn't get the angular armor treatment in this case like Batman did.
Interesting subject matter.

The PI superman looks quite plasticky in appearance, more like a carded 3.5" action figure than a 300+ bucks diecast figure. And i agree, the diecast batman do look much better.

Ok batman def looks great. I guess it makes a little more sense to me because batman wears "armor" so a metal body is t a stretch. Superman is still a no for me tho

Interesting subject matter. zozo-mag Absolutely agreed, but I wish they would have deviated and just done the angular designs anyways, because Batman's suit isn't like the P.I. figure in the comics either, but the deviations definitely "make it work" in terms of it being diecast. IT comes down to what mecha-mecha says in that the sculpting of the suit just makes it look like a regular, everyday plastic figure that happens to be diecast.

That Batman looks great. But it's the ARMOR look that carries it off for metal... It's very Iron Man armor-like.
But that silk cap isn't for me. But I can definately see spending a few hundred on this type of figure.
