Yeah that's a lot of people's Holy Grails, it's super rare. I'm surprised that somebody that actually owned one never re-produced.

The cool part is that the kit contains diecast, the bad part is that it was sold at Wonderfest for one day for a price of around $500. Nowadays your looking at over a grand if you can even find one.

That's an awesome specimen... I wonder why the manufacturer came up with that "SOC conversion" concept? And then why sell it for just one day?
Again, it's awesome and all that... But, How on Earth could THAT thing be converted from one robot SOC into the other?

Well, now that ya mention it, we're slowly learning that we can hybrid-combine parts*** of compatible SOCs and SRCs across the fence. Now that gives me an idea between all the SOCs and the SRC that I have! ***Detachable parts such as hands, fists, and other removable accessories.zozo-mag a pity you dont get any 3rd SOC players that produces add on kits, accessories or weapon sets as compared to transformers market.

I keep wishing that our own Robot-Japan 3D designing Gurus will one day see the light and start producing such "kits" for printing at places like Shapeways... }D

I'd like to try my hand at it, but I don't have this kit and I don't know where to begin...
How can we convert an SOC so that either robot will actually look like their anime characters, without ruining their cosmetic appearance? Faces, heads, chest-plates, and such...
To convert this Gekiganger's parts into a Mazinger-Z SOC it would Have to look like a Mazinger-Z SOC all over; and then back into Gekiganger again.

It comes with most of the parts, just the legs, stomach ,upper arms, soles of feet and some inner parts, are from the SOC,the rest are all new parts.Look close at instructions too.

I see that. But those pics can't zoom in any larger than they are right there.
Would those parts be "snap-on"?

I could think of a couple of SOCs that could benefit from a third party conversion kit...if just to give them less skinny proportions...
though that is for another self-rambling. I do hope like the Resin Gundam kits and conversions, we eventually start seeing that sort of thing for SOCs....even if they aren't pre-painted I'd be happy.

Man... For $500 I would expect a full figure, not just a few parts in a box that also required a SOC figure for completion. You can print a smallish SOC sized figure in frosted ultra detail for less than $400 nowdays. Still, I must admit, I have always wanted a Gekiganger 3 figure. Best gatai robot ever!

I searched youtube for the Nadesico OAV movie which features Gekiganger 3... ...it seems that the Gekiganger 3 robot character actually pays homage to the original Getters, and the Maz vs Ankoku Daishogun OAV movie. So then, in the Nadesico OAV the young teens are in a theater watching " Gekiganger 3, Fierce Bloody Battle", because that movie is their favorite anime. Here's the Gekiganger 3 movie inside the Nadesico OAV, the real deal starts half-way through this flick. This is the best version I can find, and it is hard-subbed in Spanish. But it's still fun to watch. Enjoy! zozo-mag

That video was so amazing that I am dropping my current WST projects to work on a Gekigangar kit for the SRC Mazinger! I just can't live without it. Hopefully the smaller SRC scale will allow a cheaper set of parts to be made. Every cubic inch of 3D printed material costs around $35 so.... Yikes! A smaller kit is a must. Regardless of price, I just have to get on top of my roof and scream:
GEKIGANGAAAAAAAAAAAA!

That one there at CollectionDX is a different figure sculpt, looks smaller and retro than the one in the SOC Conversion kit. zozo-mag
