That's crazy Steve's site. He is a transformer collector and a Botcon regular.

His hobby from what I understand, is that he catalogs these vintage ads from microfiche and other sources (newspapers and circulars) in libraries when he travels. It give san insight into both regular and clearance pricing back in the day, you get to see what was sold in different areas, and its a good way to tell how popular a line was as well.

He does this for several toylines and also tracks some oddities and variants through his blog and the articles he writes.

Great link. One of the advertisements had Jetfire at $33. Can you imagine how many of those they would sell at that price these days.

Yeah, Steve's a real good guy. I think I've pimped his here in the past. He lives near me, and we've met up a few times. He even attended one of RJ's summits in the past. He runs a blog linked to those ads. Check it out here:

What's the deal with RJ summits? When and where are they?
I know CDX has one coming up in aug. I was thinking if making the trip from ny to Boston..

While the CDX summits (commonly referred to as the East Coast Summits) have been a yearly event, the RJ summits (held in Florida) have been less frequent. We had three so far. We had been discussing having another one early this year, but it never came to pass. We will post details if it comes to fruition. As to past gatherings, here are some links:

A trip to Florida to look at robots.... Sounds like my idea of a good time!! Anything else involved would just be a bonus!! If it's next year, (after income tax time) sign me up!!

Heh, I saw this thread title for a bit, and finally clicked on it, and didn't realize you guys were talking about StevilKingMacaronios! ahhaha.

Like Myles said, Steve's a real good guy, his family posts of himself and son, and wife going to fan conventions and sales are pretty funny.

I also love www.plaidstallions.com really recommended!

My absolute favorite section of plaidstallions.com is the pictures of the toy shop aisles in the 70's and 80's. Too cool to see them how I remember back then!

Also www.retrojunk.com has a million commercials of classic toys. Pretty great site for us dorks! Haha
