I take it because of Harmony gold we wont see a north american release.
Is the japanese release region free?
Of course the menus and hud will all be japanese. I heard its supposely the best Macross game out there right now.

Yup no chance for NA release, and it's all Japanese. There is already a translation guide out there. Check out the m30 thread on MW.
I have it and I think that if you are a fan of the franchise, it's pretty awesome. If you haven't seen most of the shows you may not enjoy it as much. I'm only half way through.
Your American Ps3 will play it no problem.

I will meet Namco Bandai staff this july and probably get the PS3 version.
it will be an occasion to ask them about a multi language version release.
