Hey comrade gunpla people...because time is crucial and want to build my first PG. I've built about 25-30 HGUC's, 4 MG's and I think it is time to "graduate" and devote some quality time to a PG. If you only had you can buy, which one will you buy? My ideas, not set in gold: RX-78 Red Frame RX-178 Strike 00 Riser ? Also, if you built one, post pics and show off your skills. Thanks.

I would suggest building a RG first. Just Curious, which MG did you build? The MG from 10 years ago is way different from the new ones. The technology has change drastically over the years, thus the reason they are making the MG 3.0. Also, the AU type MG are more simplicitic versus some of the UC types. I also found that to be the case within the HGUC line too.
If I were to choose one from your list that you provide, just to be safe I would go with the Red Frame cause it got nothing by positive reviews. But I hate that design. Personal preference wise, I would take the Strike on you list that you provided. The Double O Riser, reviews of it is not good as it has too many joint and weight balance issues. The RX-78-2 and the RX-178, I dismiss those because the modern day technology on the MG and RG has made those PG kit obsolete. I mean, unless you want to have a collection of 1/60 scale Gundams or unless you like the portions and sculpt of the PG, I wouldn't pick those.

MG's: RX-78 OYW RX-178 Mark II, Version 2.0 GP01FB MS-06S version 2.0 I have the 3.0 on order with HLJ. As for RG's? I am skipping the entire line...I'm too clumsy and my hands are too large to deal with the tiny parts.

The reason I suggested RG is because of the challenge of dealing with really small parts. RG kits, you will see why they started a new line of 3.0 MG. The technology in the RG is just different versus that of the HGUC and MG. Even the modern day MG, like with the MG Ver.KA Nu, they don't have the color separation like the RG. They implimented some of the RG technology into the the new MG Nu but there were parts that still used stickers to separate the colors. Stuff like not having to line the mouth guard because they are actual vents, are new touches that they have in RG kits and was used in the MG Nu ver. Ka and have on the new MG ver3.0 RX-78-2.

It really does not matter how detailed or nice the color separations are if I'm breaking parts...right? I'm less concerned about the color of the plastic (in fact, I would welcome an ecopla version of a PG. Not only will the former be cheaper (maybe?) but I paint everything regardless of the molded color. From my post on the other thread: Why do I paint everything? 1. I hate the look of plastic on these kits. 2. It is a great way to cover up nub traces, give shading and tint, add realism with weathering and bring out the detail. 3. Did I mention I hate the look of plastic?

My choice goes to PG 00 Raiser full set + clear parts. (too bad I missed that one at regular price) I know of a jeweler that built the Raiser and WOW...not only does he have skills in painting, he also cast the yellow parts using 24K Gold! LOL Now, that's devotion.

I mention color separation piece because wouldn't it makes them easier to paint, so you don't have to mask parts? Anyway, it's just a suggestion.
