I'm being offered an original Popy Grendizer jumbo from a friend. It's loose no box in very good shape. All original missiles and scythes. No damage to speak of. What would a fair price be. I haven't really seen any sold on YJ recently. What's everyone's opinion?

In the box around $1300 from what I've been seeing. Loose and all original I'd say between $700 to $800.... Really depends, pricing has been all over the place lately....

I agree with Tom for a loose popy Grendizer. Maybe on the upper end with having its harkens and missiles.

Condition is the primary factor and that is very subjective. I'd say more (maybe because I have one and want to believe, lol!) like $1000 if in really good condition; no bent reverse screw puncher spikes, mint decals, no broken missile docks, no broken neck harness (common problem), good coloring. A boxed version might fetch $1300-1500.
Again, it all comes down to how much you want one and how high you're willing to go. If today's prices on E-Bay and YJA are reflective of the value, then I WAY OVERPAID about two years ago.
Either way, Popy Grendizer is an awesome jumbo with great coloring and looks. I'd say go for it....you won't be disappointed!

I would go up to $1000 if you really want it. I finally got one and it is missing a few things so mine was a bit less but he was 2nd in my top 5 for years so I didn't care.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I may pass. He wants $1200 for it. The thing of it is that i already have a "goldrake" that i converted to a Grendizer with Bournos parts. Granted it is still inferior to the original but it still looks great on the shelf. I think if iim gonna shell out those kinda Kopecs it'll be for one a bit more obscure like a Combattra or T28 that I do not have a representative of in the collection.

I've been dealing with a similar situation, But I just can't shell out that for one, when I know eventually I may be able to win one on YP If you do a completed listing search on eBay, it will show what they sold for within the last 3 months. There is one popy version that sold for $700 as a bin. I don't know how the hell I missed that one, it must have went quick! Good luck in your quests.

Hey Derik,
I can beat that...I got mine on ebay in July for $450 bin plus shipping. I found it within 20 minutes of its posting. Greatest day of my collecting life, and one of only two jumbos I get to keep. he is missing the red forearm blades but I don't care. (I'm trying to convince Wes to make me a Repro set like de does for his Goldorak left fist)

I saw that auction a couple minutes too late. So, good thing you jumped on it, or I would have snatched it up I have you on my list. The weather is cooling off here and plan to start on old lists soon.

I got a great deal (I think) on mine, with a Mazinger, for around $300! TLC and some talented friends....

Boruno- Yeah I was so happy to find him. Didn't say anything until he arrived because I didn't want another Combattler incident. and Thank you thank you thank you! I can hardly wait to have him complete.
Bowhntr66 - NICE! The Mazinger looks like it's in really good condition. How far along is your Grendizer restoration?

Haven't touched him yet. He's on his way from Japan now. He wasn't on my priority list until I seen him and gave it some thought. Now I can't wait!

Derik,
I don't know if the saw blades are different but on a related note, I love your Mattel Grendy on E-Bay. I regret selling mine. Any chance for a RJ member discount, lol!! Good luck with the sale!

I paid $800 for my loose Popy Grendizer back in January and I consider that close to the top end of the price for the toy. However since it was in excellent condition and came complete with missiles and original hariken blades I felt it was worth what I paid for it.

Great looking Grendy Luclin...$800 for that condition is phenomenal! How much would you value a Mattel Grendy then?

Based upon what I have seen price wise over the past six months... a Mattel Goldrake, loose, perfectly clean, perfect original decals, all of the original accessories, basically dead mint condition...
I would say probably around $400-450 on Ebay here in the US would be a reasonable price these days. Maybe $550-600 for a mint in box piece. (Prices from European listings may be a good bit less though.)
Of course some might be willing to pay less or more depending on just how desirable the figure is to them personally.
But Jeff, haven't you sold two or three of them over the past year? Your experience should give you some idea what they go for.

I sold one for $475 a few months back but there are so many variables. Mine had original harkens, missiles and shooting fist but all of the decals were reproductions. I'd like to score a mint Goldorak with a box and am trying to gauge the opinion of others.......others who aren't prone to overpaying unlike me.
You'd choke if I told you how much I paid for my mint Popy Grendizer; more than three times what you paid and not too much difference! In my defense, I had just started out collecting and it was my first Popy and to this day, I still think that Grendizer is an awesome figure to look at.
