Wow! Are those Shock Troopers from the same company as these early 31" super-hero figures? Looks like this toy line is really taking off on the fly as these figures become more popular. And it's not just parents buying these for their kids; serious Collectors are buying these up as well! zozo-mag

Same company!! The way it's going, it's only a matter of time before they do a bot! I have the Vader and the Red Ranger. They're pretty cool actually, and I'm surprised at how well they seem to be built.

I hear ya. No doubt the material sounds and feels much harder than hard vinyl when you tap them with your knuckle. I'm not a Power Ranger fan, but that Red Ranger tempts me! zozo-mag

Those are what pushed me over the edge with him.

I wonder when the KISS figures will be coming out? They always liked to promote themselves on anything and everything I would bet to see Minions before super robots though.

Man, if KISS jumbos were to be made, they'd sell out quick with the baby-boomer crowd before WE can get our hands on 'em! As for any super-robots appearing in this line, I wouldn't hold my breath on that... they'd surely be pricey, even if any U.S.-known robots make it into this line (ie: Transformers, Robocop, Iron Giant, Megazord, and Real Steel) zozo-mag

Hi! I buy the new version of Spiderman 31 inch, I think it's now a new collection, maybe it's also a good thing, because now it's really difficult to find some Jumbos with cool prices (I have 90 jumbo in stock) so these 31 inch mega jumbo are still available with cheap prices. Hey, maybe we need now a special part in this forum for the 31 inch ! ? I think some fans of Jumbos will also buy the 31 inch ! Yeah!

Nice idea. But let's remember that there aren't any Anime-related robots in this 31-inch jumbo line.......YET. So, we really can't start a new category for this toy line here at Robot Japan until we see some robots in this toy line. The red Power Ranger is the only thing in this toy line relatively close to what this forum represents, and that jumbo is a sentai character. It can go as categorized in the Jumbos thread, or the Sentai thread; as it becomes more popular with fans of that character. As for the future of this toy line, the manufacturer would have to see a popular demand for Japanese robots in this toy line. If the manufacturer believes there is a huge market for robot toys, it shall be done. Until then, it's up to the fan base to convince the manufacturer that fans are willing to spend so much money for this line. And even Then, we must hope that the robot toys will stay within this affordable price range at least for a good while. Robot toys, especially of the classic robot characters, are more appealing to Collectors than today's fans; therefore, Collectable toys tend to be more pricier than common toys. Of course, I'm only stating this as a theory. zozo-mag Hi! What does this Spidey look like? Anyone got a pic? Also I'v not seen one of these in person yet. Ae they solid (I'm assuming not due to low price tag). If not are they blow molded poly or hollow plastic? I'm digging the Shock Troopers. Might look cool next to Super 7 Jumbo Stormie.

The Vader has some plastic on him but the joints and bodies feel like really thick poly. Kind of reminds me of an oversized action figure. Your local Wal- Mart should have at least the Superman, he doesn't seem to be selling.

Those jumbos would have to be hollow-bodied, but with thick hard material or an extremely dense vinyl material. I'll bet you can't even push it in with your hands.
I remember about ten years ago finding an old Power Ranger figure... it was missing EVERYTHING except the head and upper body. It was a Black Ranger (probably from the Dinozord series), and the body was a natural Caucasian flesh color... as though it had to wear a cloth suit. The figure was very large, larger than a robot jumbo.

Now who was it , that said" jumbo can not be built for under 300.00" ? if you can build one of those super heroes for ? and charge 30.00 each, then why not Mazinger z or all those other great ones ?? When I tried to explain to some members here, that it only cost about 5.00 to build a jumbo, they told me the price was more like 100.00, and thats why the voltron re issues cost so much.....BULL SH#T everyone was just suckered in..........

I'm going to have to say you are still wrong on this and hope you can understand the differences between large scale manufacturing and small collector runs. The people in the older threads were referring to if someone were to personally try to get a jumbo made on a small scale, not from a multinational corporation who has billions of dollars and access to low cost tooling and parts and licenses. If I or any of the members here were to try to make a line of jumbos, the tooling, manufacturing, painting, stickering, etc. would necessitate a $300 per piece price to make money (probably way more as a $300 price would be with a minimum order of around a thousand pieces). Plus let's not forget licensing fees otherwise we would have to factor in legal costs of getting sued. I don't think anyone doubts mattel, hasbro, etc could make them cheap like the 30" ones are, but the old conversations were about the small manufacturers or startups from collectors which WOULD be $300 plus minimum. I'm sure it cost S7 quite a bit to get the Storm Trooper jumbo out there which caused the price to be $$. Plus, this is a niche market for collectors only as none of our beloved recognizable properties could maintain any type of footage in a Toys R Us or Walmart without any accompanying marketing ( ie cartoon/comic/movie).

You nailed it right On Point, I agree with you. Mention to retailers like Walmart and TRU the names of robots such as GaoGaiGar or Grendizer or Mazinger-Z, and they're gonna just say "Wha?" ...sorta like the music industry: Star power comes with industry backing, promotion, and popular demand as in "What's HOT property right now". If a current trendy TV show character doesn't have a movie or TV show behind it breaking the bank thanks to popular demand, it won't be on the shelves at big-chain corporate retailers. While these 30" figures may appeal to kids as birthday gifts and Christmas toys, there's a small market of collectors who are also buying these up... and I think That is what is keeping this toy line in the spotlight for now. But for how long? Who knows. I wish I could jump in and snatch a few of these jumbos right now while they're still accessible. That's okay, I still have borrowed time as long as this trend lasts. lol zozo-mag I'm going to have to say you are still wrong on this and hope you can understand the differences between large scale manufacturing and small collector runs.
