Picked this up on Ebay for ten bills. It cracks me up but I have no idea what it is. They had it listed as a Diaclone. So is that what this is?   |

That's Calypso from the Avarians sub-group of the Convertors toyline by Select. He is missing his chrome sword.

Nice! Thanks for the info. I couldn't resist the quirkiness of this guy. It would be nice to have the sword, but he was cheap and he had free shipping.

Yup. Alex Bickmore's Super Toy Archive. I actually have most of the Convertors made. They actually vary from wildly original designs to smaller scale knockoffs of legit Beetras and macross and orguss toys etc. but they are above KO quality. |

I was thinking more a parrot. I bought him for the humor factor. The whole concept is awesome: a robot that turns into a small basically flightless, weaponless bird. Awesome! |

My brother had the rhino beetle one when I was a kid and I remember thinking that the quality was actually better than most Transformers. |

LOL.... Anything such as that Calypso would be cool to look at!
I can't tell you how often I wanna grab some bootlegged robot toy
from my local Arab-owned discount stores every time I walk past
their storefront windows (robots with Gundam heads, or some large
transforming Robo-train) not only because they're cheap but also
because they have some Coolness factor to them! lol
In this old video clip I was showing off an old Dollar-Store
$2 "Gundam" bootie...
I no longer have it... I kept it for a while and then later on I gave it to a
neighbor's kid after showing him and his dad my robot collection.
