I apologize if these questions have been asked before. I have done a fair amount of searching on the board and have found some really good repair tips, but was unable to find answers to these specific questions. As I am very, very new to the Jumbo repair world, I was hoping that someone with way more experience than me could offer me advice on the following topics:
1. Arm Removal – I have 2 Raydeens. One really nice condition 3rd version that does not have the shoulder armor and one kind of beat up earlier version that does have the shoulder armor. I want to swap the arms on these 2 figures. So my question is twofold. A) Are these arm sections compatible with each other, will I be able to swap them out? And B) what is the best way to remove the arms of a Jumbo at the shoulders? If heating is recommended, the warm water method won’t work for me as both figures have their decals in OK shape, so I don’t want to submerge either.
2. Leg Missile Clip Removal – What is the best way to remove the leg clips off a Great Mazinga? (3rd version if it matters). I’ve been examining the figure and I’m concerned that I’ll break the clip if just try to pull it off, but I can’t see a better way to remove it. It looks like the bottom leg potions are bolted, not held together by screws so I can’t see how you would disassemble the leg if that’s what’s needed to remove and swap out leg clips.
3. Paint – Any good specific recommendations for paint that matches the red, blue or silver on Shogun Gaiking’s head? (Or alternatively, anyone have an extra head they’d sell for cheap?
Again, if these questions have been answered in the past I apologize for the repeats, just trying to jump into this with both feet.
Thanks!

Arms- they are universal, I switched a set out when I made my Marvel. I just gently pulled and turned, they came right out. If you want to try heat, use a hair dryer, works great for removing heads as well. Missile clips- these can be tricky depending on how stuck they are. On the ones I've removed, I was able to push it backwards and pop the front out. Be gentle, if the plastic is stiff, the clips will break. Tom

A few seconds in boiling water works really well for both of these repairs.

Hi
I have a video on the shogun plastics Facebook page on The missile dock removal and installation that may be helpful to you.

With the arm facing down, I usually just grab a hold and pull upward and they pop right out. The body is pretty strong and will stretch You can use a hair dryer like Tom said and it will pop out easier.

Been looking for matching paints for a while Most threads I've seen on here, members will mix their own to match the colors. I think they were airbrushed originally which will give it a different look than brushed on

Thanks for everyone's advice so far.
I have another question. I have an extra 3rd version Mazinger. I also have a Goldorak that's missing the wheels and wheel truck pieces. Can I remove the wheels & trucks from Manziner and put them on Goldorak? What's the best way to remove the wheel trucks without breaking them? I can't really figure out how they are held on (glue? just snapped on?)
Thanks again for the help.

The wheel trucks just snap on. I use a flathead screwdriver and gently pop them off starting at the outside end closest to the edge.

So pop it off by putting the screwdriver through the bottom portion of the truck on the bottom of the foot? Or do you mean pry it off starting at the side if the truck?

Yes they are interchangeable On the top of each side there are little nubs that lock it in

Managed to swap out the wheels pretty easily. The missile dock swap didn't go as well, the Mazinger docks were so brittle they practically disintegrated when I tried to pop them out. Still, I've made a lot of progress. I have a pretty great looking Raydeen now that I've swapped the shoulders and put on Bourno's custom bow.
Need some stickers and a few other parts for some of the others, but it's been very satisfying bringing some beat up jumbos back from the dead.
Looks like the only casualty so far is Gaiking. I just couldn't get the broken leg to really glue back together properly (It's cracked up by the hip joint). Anyone have an extra right leg they want to send me?

I need to swap out the horns from a Shogun Gaiking. What's the best way to remove and reinstall with breaking them? Hair dryer? Remove and soak the entire head in warm water? I have particular interest in the specific repair as the horns broke off my Gaiking when I was a kid and don't want to relive that!

Either one works, I prefer hot water because it gives me a chance to clean it off as well. Plus it doesn't get too hot that way, just enough to soften it.

Just be careful when removing any parts...the arms when being removed can split the body at the seams..using a hairdryer works best if you can not use hot water. same with the missle docks, the crack easy, due to their age !!!! As for paint colors...the red on Gaikings head is the color of the plastic, so it should NOT need painted...just cleaned with a MR.clean, magic eraser...The blue on his and Raydeens head is close to each other...and I found a metallic blue paint that testor makes....I believe its just light MET. blue..but add a hardner to the paint, Testor paints are really junky compared to MR. COLOR paint brand. Also air brush, and not just brush the paint on !!!!!....Also the colors are a egg shell finish, NOT gloss !!!! I offer head repainting, at a fair price, if your interested.. I know most collectors prefer to do their own work, but I'm there if you need help, Plus it's a more professional look. Kitsir also does repairs and repaints, but I believe his cost are pretty high, as his work is in HIGH demand. I hope that helps you, I have a post on JUMBO REPAINTING some where in here... Good luck

If you need missile docks, Derik at Shogun Plastics is your man. I have replaced several docks on mine because they just get very brittle, and Derik's always fit great. Just heat the plastic around the dock before you replace them and they will pop right in.

Although not necessary for limb removal I ALWAYS heat with a hair dryer or use hot water. I did have one casualty removing legs once without heating. the body split on the seam inbetween the legs. Since Gaiking is not female this is unacceptable. Fortunately it was a beater U.S Gaiking I got at a flea market on the super cheap ($10). It had clearly been out in the sun alot. I think that although the polythylene is usually pliable enough to not require heating, if it has been in the sun a bit over the years it might be a little more rigid and its frankly not worth risking. I advise always put a little heat first. My 2 pesos

Thanks for all of the advice. The Gaiking surgery went very well and now I have a Jumbo to be proud of. No budget to buy any new good condition figures right now, so I'm trying to keep myself busy fixing up the ones I have buying beaters for parts.
