Recently I purchased a lot of Voltron toys -- an assortment of vehicles that I had assumed from the eBay listing and photos to be from various Matchbox deluxe Voltron I / Vehicle Team Voltron sets. As I examined the vehicles more closely, I discovered this: It's the middle torso vehicle (#6, from the Sea Team)... and its silver cap has what appears to be the remains of a broken-off sensor tower. As far as I'm aware, all Matchbox Voltron toys had "flat" silver caps on this vehicle. Is it possible that I have a vehicle from the Popy Dairugger DX set -- my "dream collectible?"

I've never had any Dairugger XV (Vehicle Voltron) toys, so I honestly don't know what each toy version of that robot is supposed to look like. Hopefully someone who has every (or almost every) toy line of the Dairugger can help ID that specimen. Congrats on your new haul! zozo-mag

Most likely. Only Japanese versions had the antennas. If the set was obtained loose, it's very easy for someone who wasn't too knowledgeable to just say "oh yeah, it's matchbox vehicle voltron" and list it. I've bought plenty of "transformers" lots over the years that were full of Japanese/popy robots. Good find.

The Taiwan "Teambot" bootleg also has the towers.
