Yeah, the Top half is actually passable without those silly giant shoulder handles......passable Passable, As in nothing special.  I now actually believe he intentionally gave the Z that awful birthing hips, so it won,t be so....passable Twerking Miley Cyrus' giant wagging tongue comes to mind.  |

i like the face, its very sharp. the rest of the top is passable. the bottom is a slap in the face to fans. its like threezero hates mazinger z and wanted to ridicule it on purpose.

After seeing this. I'm not nearly as excited about this new toy. I think I might just pass on this one. This is just my opinion on the look. Others may love this new interpretation.

Upon closer viewing, I see even MORE smaller Handles on waist, chest, thighs, hips and forarms of Z.... It's like, warts all over Z's body. A handle explosion. Okay, I finally get what the designer is trying to say.  He's nofreaking Z. He's a..... Mazinger H! Mazinger Handles!!  Mazinger Hips!! Hips Hips Hurray for the H, Mazinger H!! |

Well I actually like it a lot. Very steampunk. Mazinger has been done to death and it's nice to see something different. Has its own thing going like the two Fewture versions have theirs.
Only thing I fear is that the material used might be on the brittle side if they use the same vinyl ThreeA uses.

It's funny: when Bandai issued yet another SRC Maz, some folks got irritated.
I personally am glad that someone is taking the Mazinger image, and tweaking it.
How refreshing.
I hope 3A (or whoever they are) takes on other Go Nagai characters and gives them hips, lips, or anything else. (Love handles!)

If I could design myself a "Stealth Mazinger" I hope my rendition doesn't turn out to look anything like this one. Upon a closer look, I'm warming up to the face head and upper body. I still don't like handles and I still don't like the shape and form of the legs and blocky feet, especially the torso setup. If I could take this Mazinger's upper body, head, and arms and merge it with the 1969 Fewture Mazinger's lower body parts perhaps I might appreciate the hybrid creation in that appearance. Another thing that weirds me out is that those Iron-Cutter blades are exposed and built like hinges... ...originally (and according to the anime), the Iron-Cutter blades were designed as "surprise attack" weapons to serve as a strategic defense maneuver to surprise and overwhelm the enemy with a sense of eminent sudden death. Once those blades are executed the enemy has no time to dodge them nor react to them. The Iron-Cutters were perfect weapons until they started to lose their effect late in the series with such repeated deployments. Still, the idea of "surprise weapons popping out from hidden compartments" was what gave these super-robots that extra visual WOW! appeal... ...it was what made these super-robot characters unique and memorable... ...if you watched these super-robot shows when you were a kid, you know exactly what I'm talking about with the visual effect of the robot's pop-up surprise weapons. I don't feel that effect coming from this item. And to add further redundancy to the hinged Iron-Cutter blades, the manufacturer added a SWORD? The only time Mazinger-Z ever used a sword was during the final battle scene ( "Mazinger-Z tai Ankouku Daishogun" 1974 Toei) when he used Great Mazinger's sword to defend himself against a gladiator battlebeast... and even then Maz finished it off with his Drill Missiles. I'll take this sword and give it to some other robot toy-- Hey- Jet Jaguar could use a sword! Why not! lol zozo-mag |

The first thing i said was UGLY before I even saw the toy,just based on the drawing.I dont like Fewture stuff at all,but I know its well designed and made,just not my deal.But i do know when something is not aesthetically pleasing and this robot is not.
What I can say is the face and head look cool,but the side fade haircut is odd,it just is too sharp from the side of the face to the crown it needs an angle,its too straight up and down there..
I just dont like dirty,overly mechanical looking robots.But i know a lot of younger guys do because that is their generation.I grew up with the classics,and that is what I like.But this is not good on any level,the bottom half and the handles ruin the whole look,its unbalanced.
The upper half has some promise,but this is like a brainstorm idea that didntcome to refinement and completion.Just random and clunky.It needs work.the lower half including the legs and feet dont resemble anything mazinger.Yes redesign stuff if you must,but keep somewhat to the source material.
