I remember seeing that discussion here at RJ a few years ago, but that thread is buried somewhere perhaps in the Breaktime section. It's been said that one of the crew guys who worked on the set is a Mazinger fan, and that he placed those Mazingers into the scenes as background props. Thanks for this thread! zozo-mag

Here's a cool statue that's on "King of the Nerds" Gundizer? Grendum?

I also wonder if the 'bootleg' mix-match of the robot figure, such as that "Gundizer" statue, is actually done On Purpose?
By that, I mean, if that were an actual Grendizer and/or Gundam statue figure, the production company of that TV show would have to pay Go Nagai and/or Sunrise Studios some kind of royalty to show even a glimpse either of those robot characters right there as a "stage prop" item. In the movie industry, it's called "Product Placement"***..........
.....Sooooooo, the producers and crew would build a bootlegged mix-matched statue or prop of those robots, just for background scenery. The mix-matching would be a purposeful attempt to avoid the work of seeking licenses and the payment of royalties for "Product Placement" inside a movie scene.
***Product Placement is the act of placing an advertised name-brand product as a stage prop inside a scene of a movie.
Example: you're watching the movie "Pulp Fiction"... you see a Coca Cola can in the far background, in scenes throughout the movie... ...Well then, the movie producers would have to pay Coca Cola, Inc. some kind of royalty for every time that Coca Cola can is shown somewhere in scenes throughout the movie.

That can work both ways too. Sometimes products will pay to have them in the movie or show. I know that's why you used to see a lot of brand names on tv shows.
I know last season of "King of the Nerds" they had a 6' Grendizer inside the house. Looked exactly like a Jerry Santos version. I haven't seen it this year.
