I have many shoguns and duplicates and different versions and I want to expand my collection to having different jumbos but I have a hard time parting with any of them. I go up to one and go ok I will sell you because I have another. But thats as far as I get I just cant do it I think I am a robot hoarder.

I gave my 4 year old my duplicate Shoguns and let him beat em all to hell, he plays with them all the time( I'm hoping this will give him an appreciation for my collection later on). Ive been tossing around the idea of selling my boxed shoguns that I have the popy version of, I agree, it's hard to let go. I've only let go of a few pieces over the years. 1 i truly miss the others I was buying and selling to build a couple complete specimens( much easier to let go an incomplete when you have a complete one). Never been big on having every variation released, like first version, second version etc. As far as being a hoarder…you should see my pile of star wars toys. Started collecting from 95 on with the remakes, stopped around episode 2. A mountain of worthless plastic, the space it takes in my home was worth more ,now my son has the most insane star wars toys to go along with his shoguns..

It's hard at first when selling anything you have that's in decent condition or better.
I never sell any childhood toys unless I am sure I no longer want them.
As far as items that have come into my collection over the years, whether they be a mint piece I didn't have yet, a temporary space filler, a variant, an extra, for parts/repair, or to sell, I agree that it is hard to let them go.
I am first and foremost a collector and a rescuer of toys - I hate to see exceptional things tossed away or abandoned - any money earned is secondary and gets recycled into the toy buying fund. Because of this and due to the fact that I have a lot of toy memories from childhood or great finds over the years, it is difficult to let things go sometimes, even the things you know you don't need.
That being said, I have started to sell off specific pieces and/or entire toylines from my vintage collection and I find I don't miss them at all (and I have over a thousand plus items to go).
I only keep and buy what I truly want and if I buy something that I am unhappy with it gets sold right away. No need to keep something you can't smile at around.
It's hard at first, but after, when all you can do is look at your favorites and your best pieces you'll feel just fine.

Thanks for your guys input. I have sold incomplete ones but when it comes to being complete and with boxes I just cant let go. I really need the space to include others but its hard to find complete ones anymore and I just dont want to regret getting rid of. I am looking at keeping better condition boxes and robots and letting the not as nice go. I want to get the more rare jumbos but it will take like 5 in box to get one loose popy. I would def have more room but is selling 5 to get one worth it. Then there is the decision of which one to go for and when will it ever come up. I really want a grendy or daimos is it worth the trade off? There are plenty of others i would like to get but it would take selling more and more just to get one. Getting robot factory probably way out of question. How does everyone afford these? I dont want to charge any on credit card but I never have enough to cover the cost.

Trust me, if there are single figures that you truly want, then letting go of 5 lesser ones is not a big deal, especially if you get a nice one of that one figure.
Whether you do new or vintage toys, it's an expensive hobby so you have to focus. Even the biggest spenders don't buy everything.
I have dropped quite a bit recently, with one of my toys being well into four figures. That's not something I did lightly but a lot of stuff I had that was just sitting around was sold or donated after that purchase.
Pulling the trigger was a hard pill to swallow but I was happy with the end results. Even my brother and my parents didn't give me any crap for spending so much because they knew the money was replaced quickly and they knew I bought something I truly had wanted for ages.
All my toys are paid for. The only time I have ever used a credit card to buy a toy is if I went to an auction or similar event that required secure payment. Either way, I had the cash for the toy ready and paid off the credit card right away once the items got to me in satisfactory condition. Never, ever, finance your toys.
Always have cash on hand and only buy stuff that's worth it or that you want. When a killer item you want comes up, especially if it's a great deal, it's a lot easier to look at a pile of stuff you love and your pile of buying cash, rather than your pile of cool little things you bought to fill gaps or hold you over and no pile of extra cash.
I lost focus for a while too - it happens to a lot of us - fortunately even though I have a different focus now, the things I picked up in the interim were already desirable to begin with. You have to learn not to buy junk unless it's nearly free or you're going to move it very quickly. Any junk I buy now is really to assist myself or friends with parts and repairs only.
And never overspend. There will always be another one for sale. 99.9% of the time.

VERY sound advice! Sounds almost as if you were speaking directly to me about 6 months ago! Here's something to think about robonutter, and it's what finally got me off of a bunch of doubles that I had filling my displays. Watch ebay and YJ. Look how many mattels come up compared to Popy, RF, Nakajima's etc. there will still be Mattel's around for a while to rebuy if you want to, but the others are getting harder to find. Not to mention price... Where a Mattel has gone up $20-$30 over the past year or so, some of the others have gone up hundreds! I held on to some of my extras for a while and passed on a few because of not having the cash. Now the ones I passed on have gone way up. The money I could have sold for then could have bought those bots, now it wouldn't touch them.

This is why I have yet to purchase a Daimos. I don't really need to overspend on a Popy version and I don't have to get a Mattel version yet since there are so many around. I would rather pay the 4 figures for something you don't see often like a Robot Factory jumbo. I did buy sort of beat up Mattels in a lot but don't plan on replacing anything until I get all the other characters. I also own the LJN Voltron. Probably get the Taiwan Daitetsujin 17 if I can find one. Don't want to spend over four figures for the Popy of those characters.

Mr.Ginrai, I couldn't have said it all better. And as much as I'd like to, I can't even let go of my fillers! The only times I've let something go was either in Trade, or as a gift to someone.
A year ago one of my kitchen staff members got fired right after New Years. Up until then, I brought my Bandai 6" vinyl Jet Jaguar figure to work and let my friend display it at his work station. He loved Jet Jaguar, and he also happened to be a Maz fan since his childhood. On the day he got fired, I gave him my Jet Jaguar figure as a gift along with some Mazinger-Z episodes on a DVD; and I promised him I would bring him the complete Maz series as soon as I upgrade my second computer (which I do all my DVD authoring on).
I miss my Jet Jaguar figure, but I feel much more happy that it now belongs to someone who really appreciates it. Whenever my friend stops by to visit me at work he brings Jet Jaguar along with him.
Later on down the road I'll just buy myself another vinyl Jet Jaguar figure from eBay, or I'll make my own JJ figure. lol

Thanks for all the sound advice everyone. I am feeling better about letting go. I would rather have the room and have money ready to go for a piece I really want.
