It was great building up the Space Velour, sort of reminds me of the fun carefree childhood days playing toys. Applying the decal was different , the decals did not really fit properly and the adhesive didn't quite stick, I did not manage to get all the decals up. Here's a shot of my Space Velour: Hi bro, takes courage to decide whether to apply those unapplied decals, the feeling is must be good. The last time i did not hesistate to apply these decals are when I was a kid, mask and transformers toys, and it is fun. I like the Space Velour bootleg, put up some pics of your collection when you are free, thanks for the great info bro ! best regards DOE

That's a peculiar position to be in: to apply the decals on a brand new toy or wait until later on.
Many of us who are into making customs and repro parts would reproduce the toy parts before applying the decals. Since the silicone mold needs to stick to the plastic part in order to capture the surface detail. If the decal were already applied onto the part, the silicone would tear the decal when you pull the part out of the mold. That is critical especially for smaller toys, such as those HG Gundam model kits.
Back in the day, the Mattel Shogun Warrior jumbos came brand new with their decals already factory-applied. I don't know if any of the old Popy jumbos were treated the same way.
I thought of an idea for future reference, when you buy a new toy that comes with separate decal sheets..... ...Scan the decal sheet in its actual size, and save the scan as a file document (.PDF) or as an image file (.PNG) so that all the decals are in their actual size. If the toy has several decal sheets, scan them all before you start using those decals. Keep the scanned files permanently on a CD disc and keep the disc inside the toy's original box.
...that way, later on down the road, if the original decals on the toy somehow get damaged or torn, you can print out a replacement copy of the decal from the disc. The printed copy would have to be on vinyl or some other good quality decal paper. Then you would have to cut the decal around its shape from the paper, using very sharp scissors or an Exacto knife. But at least that way, you'll be able to have a copy of your original decals.

Here's something I just learned... The small wheels that are usually missing from the Popy Mazinger Z are the same wheels on Nakajima Tekkaman and Capsule Robo G. Just a different color.

Is Nakajima another line under popy? I am just curious if Nakajima is like Robot Factory since they use the same wheels... best regards, DOE

I picked him up for a friend of mine in Italy. I did get to put him together and get a good feel for him... Wow!!! He was incredible!! In really good shape too. I'm not sure if Nakajima was affiliated with popy. The wheel mounting brackets are similar, and the wheels are very close to being the same, but that's where the similarities end. The Nakajima's seem harder, stiffer, I guess. Almost as if they would break easily instead of denting if dropped. The shooting mechanisms aren't even close to a popy but to put it the best way I can think of, they're "ingeniously simplistic".

Nakajima was another company like Takara or Clover, I had wondered if there was another connection between Popy and Nakajima as I remember seeing non popy JMs from Nakajima in the Bandai museum.

Hi all, anyone have any info on MISB Machinder villians like what accessories they come with? Even seeing some boxed specimens will be very thrilled. I am particulary interested in Taihou Buffalo and Q9...

I went digging through my pictures DOE. I have pictures of them, but none MIB. I'm pretty sure Taihou Buffalo came with 2 ball "missiles", a yellow and a black. I'll keep digging...

To the best of my knowledge the first series came with nothing, the second series villains came with projectiles for their launcher features( ball, spear, heads)

Taihou Buffalo came with three balls, a red, a yellow and a black. They all have the same "drawing" emboss on them, but there's actually two drawing, one on each side of the balls. They look like scorpion, and are based on the Destron symbols, the bad guys from Kamen Rider V3.
For a moment I was thinking that maybe the balls that comes with Green Ghost C3 and Garada could have another design since those characters don't have anything to do with Destron. You know, sometimes you think they're going to take some shortcut for some design and re-use parts from another toy but they redo a new part completely from scratch. But it turns out that Green Ghost comes with the exact same balls.
So from what I think and we can suppose, when you look at the second edition villains box, you can see the prototype on the box, and Garada and Green Ghost C3 don't have a launcher. So they might have decide to use the launcher from Taihou Buffalo, cut a hole in their chest and use those launcher and pack them with the same balls. This way they all had some launching gimmick.
Another interesting thing with this second serie of bad guys. They all have almost the exact same box. Only the side panels are different. It's just recently that I've see that the side panels are separate pieces, so the front, top and back panels are exactly the same, and the side panels were printed separately and assembled after.

Hi Mike, thanks for the valuable and interesting info. As you know I am very keen in that buffalo (probably the most expensive buffalo in my life), i did a search online, seems like THAT RED BALL is very rare as well, cant seem to find one with the red ball. I wouldnt notice on the box that C3 dont have a launcher without you highlighting, I think you might be correct that they use the buffalo launcher on the C3 as it looks similar. Thanks again for sharing! best regards, DOE
