Hi all, I read on another thread about JM writing reviews and coincidentally, as I picked up an U5 Gaiking in Japan today and got some interesting facts about it from the store owner, I wanted to share it here. Welcome all comrades to feel free to contribute any secrets or info about JM. I will contribute mine once I reach home with some photos.

Well not sure if this is a secret but I opened up my U5 Great Mazinger's legs and found it uses metal washers and a nut for the weight. It was all rattling around and I thought it was coins at first. Are all weighted jumbos done with washers?

Don't know about the "newer" ones, but my Grendy and Combattler each have plastic tubes with what looks like gun powder/blackish sand in them.

The UniFives had posts with washers secured by a nut inside the legs.

The Unifives didn't use the cylinders with sand like the originals. They have rods attached to the lower part of the thigh that goes down inside into the calf lower leg areas and have metal washers over the rods for weight. Unfortunately apparently sometimes they break off from leg and rattle around inside the lower legs. Fortunately none of mine have had this happen but my friend has 2 of each of them and one Maz and one Gaiking each have a rattling leg.

Whatever you folks do, Do NOT sit those black-sand bottles next to the Salt and Pepper shakers in the kitchen... or you'll regret it! lmao I took all that weight stuff out of my jumbos legs... I've been meaning to cut slots in back of the legs for stashing money inside. My commander Voltron jumbo is perfect for that idea, cos I can stash money inside the legs, and feet, and inside the body, too! lol zozo-mag

I find it sort of interesting U5 probably thought they were improving the jumbos by adding metal washers on a cylinder instead of plastic tubes with sand but unfortunately, it isn't as good since one of the cylinders on my jumbo broke off and the other couldn't hold all that metal weight and fell off as well. The U5 jumbos wouldn't get passed the metal detectors at the airport either.

Hi all, disclaimer: the following that I am sharing is new to me and might not be new to you. If it is already known to you, can just ignore it lol. I chance upon this U5 Gaiking that the store advertise as C10/10 at a toy store in Japan. Anybody that sold a toy online or at a store before will know that stating C10/10 is asking for trouble. Thus, attracted my attention, I already decided to buy this U5 Gaiking before I spoke with the store owner. As I was paying, I asked: How did you know this Gaiking is C10/10 complete and factory new? For MIB chasers and to those that do not like to pay innocent dollars buying a MIB that is not actually MIB, I share these little info here that might help the next generation of JM collectors, maybe our children LOL. 1) The right arm of the the gaiking comes un-attached in the original packing from distributors (he claim he bought like dozens of them direct from distributors). The size of the box is not designed to put the gaiking with 2 arms attached, i think it will make the box bend out slightly. Together with the seperate arm comes with 5 missiles. The loose fist is also detached from the arm. 2) The red wing comes together with a small booklet sealed. Not too sure if this is true, but I seached on completed sales of U5 gaiking on ebay, coincidentally the highest priced one is something like US$499 and is also the one that is same like this. The rest of the U5 gaiking ended much less. Maybe its not a secret afterall. Anyways I paid for it and left happily with my U5 Gaiking. best regards, DOE

I've never bought a brand new jumbo or MISB or anything similar, therefore I honestly would never know what to expect when encountering these types of sales. It looks like you've landed a very good deal for that Gaiking. And, thanks for the brief lesson on how to tell if it's MISB. zozo-mag

magengar: Welcome bro, I hope these kind of reviews helps the community so that we all know what we are paying for. I would love to know things like which jm comes with seperate sticker sheets while which comes already applied in the original condition, etc...maybe those bros that have MISB Jumbos can step out to contribute when they have free time. I will contribute more once I have the luck and money to come across MISB JMs which are incredibly rare and expensive and hard to come by these days. Even the bandai museum do not have such stocks on hand. best regards DOE

Doe, don't have those super rare stuffs. But my Takara Gorg & bootleg Space Velour came with stickers unapplied MISB. I applied and displayed them out of box anyway.

Hi bro, takes courage to decide whether to apply those unapplied decals, the feeling is must be good. The last time i did not hesistate to apply these decals are when I was a kid, mask and transformers toys, and it is fun. I like the Space Velour bootleg, put up some pics of your collection when you are free, thanks for the great info bro ! best regards DOE
