Retro Robot Posters Thread

Was bored and just doing some surfing on the interweb and I found these images:







First of all does anyone know where I can buy these posters or anything similar of the retro type.

As a request, does anyone have Hi-res images/scans of these posters?


EDIT: I think I saw a Yahoo Japan Auction for the Voltes V poster and I fell of my chair when the winning bid was around $500 AUD.

Sometimes smaller versions of those posters came out in magazines.

Mostly though, those came out overseas and weren't released in the US.

There was another line of posters that were TV Terebi magazine covers and/or promo toy artwork that made it to some shops stateside and some of us have those - grendizer, gakeen, gaiking, and daiku maryu. Sometimes you can get lucky and find these for between $20 and $100 depending on if they have wear and damage, but mint ones can go as high as $3-400.

Italy and Japan had a similar poster of jeeg but that is not part of this set I mentioned above.

The Voltes and combattra posters I rarely see because they aren't the easiest to find and again, mainly overseas. They will always be pricey.

i saw a seller who makes custom order "wall scroll" over at ebay...i know its far different from a poster but kinda similar in a way, but you might want to give them a pretty good & clean image. coz the only thing im afraid of is that they might do the entire exact scanned picture without even cleaning the heck out of it or what so ever, they might interpret it literally . i for myself would like to recreate and have a print out of those nostalgic poster but with a modern twist kinda way.

After I get home from work tonight, I'll snap some photos
of the super-robot posters I have which were given to me by Baron.
They're beautiful posters.

One of them (the fangoria magazine Gaiking) still needs a frame,
but I pinned it up on my door so that I could try to straighten out
the magazine folds and creases and make the poster as straight
flat as possible, then I will frame it behind a sheet of thin
plexiglass or lexan plastic to preserve it.

Got home from work a while ago, been a busy night even after the
snowstorm earlier in the day.  Checkin my emails quick and I just
wanna go to bed soon and rest up; got some errands to do tomorrow,
then I gotta be at work early in the afternoon cos our restaurant's
gonna be Very busy with reservations and customers flocking in
for Valentine's Day evening wine-n-dine.
Uuuuugh!  It's gonna be a sh*t-show at work in the evening!
Hopefully I'll be home relaxed after work tomorrow night so's I can
snap some pics.

Nice collection! Especially the Combattler DVD poster!

The posters do add some touch to the robot collection.

Sorry I'm late, guys.  Had a BUSY shift at work last night.

Bandai art poster



...This poster is a collage of the artwork featured on the '80s and '90s
vintage Bandai super-robot model kits.  The year this poster was made is unknown to me.

This was a gift from Baron Weirwulf, complete with the frame, card-stock backing,
and its thin plexiglass cover.
The frame was missing a bottom portion; so I cut and trimmed a portion from an
old gold plastic frame and mounted it here.  I will sand it and paint it black to
match the other black portions of the frame.

Sorry about the glare in the picture, it's a reflection of the light in my ceiling.



Fangoria magazine GAIKING centerfold pullout...



...This poster is a centerfold pullout from an old issue of Fangoria Magazine (1981?).
On the back side is a small 8x10 artist's rendition of Voltes V, and a couple of pages
from the feature article of the magazine issue discussing Japanese anime super-robots.
The article briefly discussed the robots Mazinger-Z (Tranzor-Z), Brave Raideen,
the Starvengers (Getter Dragun), Gaiking, Astroboy, and Grendizer (Goldrake).

You can still see the creases in the folds from the magazine force.
There's nothing I can do about those creases, as they are textured by force into
the paper.
For now, I pinned it to my closet door to keep the paper from curling.
But I must mount it inside a frame behind a sheet of plexiglass or lexan plastic
soon to protect the poster from dust.
This poster also came from Baron, along with his GX-45 custom-painted Red/White
Mazinger-Z figure.
