Kind of surprised (or not) that nobody has posted anything about this figure yet. Start-up company 1000toys is producing figures from Tsutomu Nihei's manga "Biomega" (By the way...has to be my new favorite manga ever. Book is awesome). First up is TOA Heavy Industies Synthetic Human figure. Resembling something from Shirow Masamune's Ghost in the shell and I-Robot, this 1/6 scale figure seems to pack in a ton of articulation and design presence that blend the best of its influences. TOA Heavy Industries is the fictional company in the manga Biomega. I'm part way through the second volume, and I tell you...it's nothing short of amazing. Just look it up and find it. You won't be sorry. As for the toy; I can't give the 1000toys my money fast enough. However, preorders for the Synthetic Human go up on 3/4/2014 at 11am JST (or 8PM CST). I've already set an alarm for it, but I believe the figures are being made to order. And like 3A toys, you'll need to cough up $120 USD(shipping TBD)for this bad-boy up front. I'm already sold though. Been watching this project unfold on facebook for a while now and I can't wait to support this company. It actually looks great, but I haven't read the manga so I don't have any attachment to the figure. I think no one seems to be interested right now is that same reason. We all collect figures on character we are familiar with. I haven't read any of Masamune Shirows recent works but I'll give it a shot since he's one of the people iresponsible for making anime mainstream in the west.

Southpawdragon started a thread for this in general. He was not getting as many replies at first either.
It is pretty cool looking.

It does look pretty neat, but I agree that its a design you need some knowledge and attachment on the manga before you'll get interest in. As cool as it is, it doesn't have a lot of design flair that appeals to the general audience. Its a rather simplistic bare bone humanoid. When most folks are burning their cash on Hot Toys Ironmans and such, with intricate details and almost too realistic head sculpts, neat stuff like this takes a back seat.

Yeah, just saw the thread in "General" sub-forum. mpchi- I suppose I'm one of those rare few who saw this and immediately wanted one before I knew what the heck it was! LOL! But of course a little bit of research went a long way and "BOOM". I had to put Biomega on my manga radar. Quite simply, it's one of the best damn stories I've read in a while. It is a little sad that small companies like 1000toys may get little recognition for their efforts (which is why I wanted to support them in this effort), but yeah, Hot Toys are, well, "hot" right now. If they were better priced for me, I'd have a shelf full of them! Speaking of 1000toys as a small company. Apparently, per web rumor, it's run by just two people with production being handled by the folks from Sen-Ti-Nel. The two people.... Yuta Tobari and the creator of Biomega (Blame, Snikt and other manga) Tsutomu Nihei - source - tenacious-toys.blogspot.com/2014/01/1000toys.htmlOh yeah, preorders are live if anyone want's some 1/6 scale crack! shop.toa-1000toys.com/?pid=1139362&force=pcLooks like this first preorder batch SOLD OUT. ...and cover to vol. 1.

I think We should merge this thread with mine. With me still keeping the thread starter.

I think We should merge this thread with mine. With me still keeping the thread starter. I'm totally cool with that! (As it should be). southpawdragon, Did you get one? The first PO batch sold in a couple hours. I believe 1000toys are checking to see if the production facility can make a few more. Cannot wait to get mine. I love supporting smaller/indie companies that are taking some risks and producing interesting IP's.

Bought the Synthetic Human 1/6 Snake Eyes (G.I.Joe) a while back. Super cool design, but chest strap was made way too short on all of them that it looked weird on all collector's photo online (mine included). And the the articulation while excellent, the accessories on how they secure on the figure was not very well thought out. In the end, great to have one, but not impressive enough to keep collecting more. And definitely not worth the super inflated price ($500-1000) some of the early releases are asking for. But a decent purchase around its retail prices.
