Read this tweet today from Adam. Not sure if there was a fallout or whether Adam just need a change. Hope CollectionDX continues with Josh and a new host.

Bigger and far better? That does not sound like it was a amicable thing.

Well, that will make some here happy. Anyone I know who disliked the show was because of him.
I watch because of Josh.

when anyone leaves its sad. I got the impression from watching these past few months that Atom wasn't into it. There's been a lack of enthusiasm on his part. I've kept watching because of Josh.
Speculation: Personal issues impacting Atom's motivation.

Good. I hate to say it, but I never liked Adam. I felt he was rude, snarky, and just a general neckbeard, not only to new collectors but... everybody.
I'm sure he's a fine person on his own, but that's the impression he gave off.
I know he was out of work for a long period of time and maybe that was part of the reason his attitude was so poor. It can be depressing. Good luck to him in the future. Also, I could tell that his perfectionism on the show would tax Josh. Complaining about picture quality and sound quality when it wasn't really an issue.
Josh seems like a really nice and balanced guy.

Hey Guys,
1. The show will go on. I might do an every other week schedule until I get my bearings. 2. It was not amicable. It was my decision. 3. For the time being we may do revolving show hosts. We'll see how it goes.
There will be a show this thursday, but it may be a bit rough. I want to keep it professional and not talk details, but I will share what I can.
Thanks for your support! It means a lot!
Josh

this is a bummer...will still continue to support CollectionDX and tune in regularly. Keep it up, Josh. Charles would be an excellent host, as well as Jmann. I do like the rotating co-host idea F Stylze

It is still sad and unfortunate, regardless the reason of separating, since Josh and Adam did put in a lot of work together on the site and the 100+ episodes of podcasts. Thats a lot of stuff! But since we are not part of the group/staff, there will be issues and difficulties we won't understand, even if we get glimpse of info here and there.
Good luck to Adam on his new ventures, and same to Josh for continuing the site and podcast. You guys together made a great combo, while it lasted.

Sounds like he is just throwing off his toy collecting past to focus on video games. It's odd that he would make that transition or be so close to making it, and yet be so concerned about the collection dx brand at the same time.
Good luck to him though.

I hope Josh was nice about it... Adam had been there a long time, and had given much of his time and effort to CDX. And while the CDX website is a great resource, Atom nor Josh have ever really been all that interesting to watch or listen to anyway.

You know, I tried really hard to stay above board and professional with this. I did. I didn't want to share the facts about what happened specifically between us. But I am sort of pissed that he went on patreon (the one last venue I allowed him access to) to air his grievances.
I apologize, readers of Robot-Japan, but this is where the discussion seems to be taking place.
The circumstances as he laid them out above are essentially correct. However the details are significantly different. Adam and I have had TONS of creative differences in the past, from minor squabbles to out and out arguments. These things happen in a business. over the past 8 years I have defended him and diffused situations between him and every other member of my staff. I cannot tell you how many emails I have gotten from staff members (and readers) threatening to leave if something was not done about him. But I valued him as a friend and as a key contributor to the site. People seem to forget that I own CDX, and I pay certain people to perform certain functions for the site. Adam was one of those people.
An issue came up where we were offered a set of samples for the site to review. I passed around the offer to other staff members. He thought we should not be doing that. Now there's a way to voice disagreement while being professional and constructive, and there's threatening me and calling me names if I decided to go down that route. He offended me, he disrespected me, and basically burned any trust we had. He had some review samples and he told me I could come by and take them because, and I quote "I'm done doing reviews for your site.". He was no longer working on the show out of love for the hobby, he was doing it for a paycheck. And when you rely on that paycheck, it's not a good idea to tell your boss to f*ck off.
I then locked him out of all site accounts. He was confused. He still wanted to do the show, but I told him that you don't get to call me an A**hole and keep your job. So I fired him.
Then the matter of the Patreon Campaign came up. I was a little unsure of the Indiegogo campaign but it worked out well and Adam got a brand new computer out of the affair to produce the show. It worked out well. Then this patreon thing came about because some other web shows did it. I didn't need the money, but Adam was always looking for ways to raise extra cash for himself. I went along with it, although I felt uncomfortable about it. With him leaving I decided to close the Patreon account as it was largely for his benefit. I gave him access so he could receive the last payment, and he took that opportunity to throw me under the bus (as you see above).
I could go on. I think the root of the matter is really that Adam is much better at, and more interested in, creating his own content and running his own show. I think this split was a long time coming, and this event was the catalyst of it. Our goals are not aligned, and he could not accept that I wanted to go in the direction that I thought was best.
I think i'm overtalking this. That screenshot above is the first I've seen just minutes ago and i'm steaming inside.
Those are the facts, wether you chose to believe them or not. CDX will go on without him. If you enjoyed what Adam did, as he said above, he will still be around on his own channel.
Josh

Thanks Josh, That really opened up my eyes regarding the whole debacle between the two of you. Initially, I thought to myself what is the big deal between two long time friends over some "minor" issues. Friendships are hard to come by specially those that lasted for so long.
Honestly I enjoyed the show a lot more before, maybe like 3 to 4 months ago. Since then, it has been a drag to watch the show with lack of interest from you guys. (I think it has rubbed off on you as well, Josh) Hopefully with everything behind you, we will start to see a better more interesting show in the future.
