Hello everyone,
I recently decided to get back into collecting after not doing so for a bit over 10 years. I had Jumbo Shoguns when I was a kid in the 70's. In the late 90's I got hardcore about collecting them. I had a decent collection going, MIB T28, Popy Raideen, Poseidon etc. Then in 2004 I was married and felt like I had to sell them, which I did. What a mistake! So here I am now a decade later, starting again. So, anyway I just wanted to share.
This whole reproduction/restoration thing was not going on when I was collecting (at least I was not aware of it) so it has sparked a new interest in trying to restore some and collect again. The past few weeks I've been a little nuts collecting some of my favorites and will continue when funds allow in the future.
So, in August I am moving into a new home and have decided I am going to build a nice enclosed case for my collection with plenty of growing room. Ideally, I want it to have glass shelves, 3 rows tall enough for machinders if possible. Maybe 8 feel wide?
Ideas on this? Any help is greatly appreciated!
Also, Derik at Shogun plastics is awesome! I have already bought some parts from him and wow, I am impressed. This fall I am wanting to start my first conversion project. A blackout Great Mazinga!

Welcome to the forum. I know a few guys use the Ikea Detolf cases, wish I had a nearby store as the price is very nice.
Sorry to hear you sold your collection. Wish I had gotten the jumbo bug a few years sooner. I do quite a bit of repro work as even the "not so great shape" popy ones are commanding good prices these days.

They make glass doors for the Ikea Billy shelves as well. I personally am not a fan of JMs in detolfs, by the time bot and box are displayed you get two into a case,I don't have enough house for 20+ detolfs...

Guys, thank you for the ideas and the warm welcome. Bourno, I have been looking at your work. Wow man, I am impressed. I may be hitting you up in the near future to do some business with you.
Bowhntr66, the funny thing is I had the photo of your display case saved to my desktop, lol! That is going to be the basis of mine. I think though, I will make mine straight across without the middle section. But yea, nice case and collection.

I needed a way to connect the 2 display cases because there wasn't enough room for another set of shower doors. And I wanted my Marvel Trio to be the focal point of my collection. Now, to get a Dangard to finish it off!!

Marvel trio would be awesome to have! Well, I think I will end of with at least two of those cases you made. I want mine to have lights however. Thanks for sharing your setup.

There's lights in them. I mounted LED strip lights on each side. Tried a few times to take a picture with them on but I couldn't get rid of the glare. If you watch you'r local Lowe's clearance section, you can find the shower doors pretty cheap. I think I paid about $75 a set for mine (marked down from $350).

That is a deal. I will watch for it, $75 is a steal!
