If the transformers were G1 MISB and graded, it would run into 6 figures. That article, how important is it to be a collector and have a wife or girlfriend who understands your obsession. I think very.

I don't think the collection he has is anything special (as far as specific pieces go) and the only reason he spent so much money is due to when he started collecting (2002).
Do I think he has a great collection even though a lot of it is modern? Yes. Displayed well? Yes. Does he enjoy it and look happy? Yes. He's hit all the right points.
Would he be able to get anywhere or keep up with anything vintage or modern right now (assuming he had no toys and 32k to spend)? No.
He could get some great stuff, and buy things he'd enjoy, but to try to achieve some completion or collecting goal of anything would be difficult. The money just wouldn't go that far. And I'm saying that as someone that has most likely easily eclipsed what he spent.
I don't agree with the author for using that title to drive hits to the article because the title misses the point that this guy is dedicated to a popular hobby and looks happy, and appears to have a wife/girlfriend that is cool with the toys.

True. His collection isn't special at all. I think the writer just wanted to get hits using the buzz words transformers and china. I don't mind. It definitely worked on me. I'm always one happy to look at collections of others how great or not great it may be.
His next article should be the headline "Italian man spends 3000 Euros on toy collection." All it is is a picture of a collector standing next to a jumbo spazer w a grendizer jumbo.
