Okay, here's what I have for Daltanius' lion head chest plate Velarios (or
Belarios?) thus far.
Be advised, this is a very large vectorized .png image... right-click "View Image" to
see it and download it in its
default size (6032 x 5088)..................
The reason I made it in such a high resolution is so that the detail comes out sharp
and crisp when the image gets printed to paper.
Whether you're making Buttons, Tshirt transfers, Decals, Posters, even Mousepads, you would
be better off using high resolution images for best output image quality.
This lion head Velarios was actually that closeup photo of the SOC from CollectionDX.
I opened the original image in Irfanview and cropped it to just the head and saved it.
Then I opened it in Vector Magic where I converted the image into a vectorized view
of all the colors in the pallet for this image...
I cut out all the background and body parts and left just the head and saved the image
as an enlarged .png vector image (6032 x 5088)...
...then I opened it in MS Paint (Windows 7 Ultimate) where I cut the image in half to
continue vectoring by hand on just one side of the lion face. The MS Paint version in
Windows XP is so much easier for me to work with because I can use the polygon tool
to redraw and touch up this lion head much faster and on point.
After that touch up I then saved the image half and opened it with Irfanview for a
final manual paintbrush touch up of the lines and shades, to make this lion appear
"mechanical" on its face while the mane was kept in an "organic" appearance.
Once I was satisfied with the work, I copied the image to the clipboard and horizontally
flipped the original image to face from the right while I pasted the copy to face
from the left thus splicing both halves together as one image.
With all that done, you can see the mirrored sides look exactly alike, and this method
is my quick way of transforming photos and images into high resolution vector images.
If I can improve this image, I would- but I don't wanna ruin it by touching it up too much.
Feel free to touch it up (you can see some micro-pixel artifacts in the image) and finalize it
to suit your project.
Good luck, and post results of your buttons so we can see how cool they will look!
