Hi, Newbie here. I was trying to sand out scratched on a maziger leg and ended up with this I started with 600 wet sand and moved up to 1500 but still have this white residue. Has anyone ever experienced this or have a solution / alternative to this? Any help would be appreciated.

Hows it look with peanut butter on it?

Is the white residue just surface stuff you can wipe off by hand, was it generated by sandpaper? I would think wiping the leg with a soft, damp cloth using distilled water before using a plastic polish ought to be the next step. Let us know.

Him thanks for the responses. I tried the peanut butter but it didn't really do much. I'm not sure if I did it right lol but as for the residue,it happened both after a light sanding and even using the the number two novus polish? It doesn't just rub off with a damp cloth although I haven't tried distiller water. Is there a difference with the type of water? Thanks for the help

It's gotta be Jif peanut butter and extra chunky.lol. What a bout a tack cloth or cheese cloth and kind of polish it and get residue off? Maybe it needs something that will rehydrate in a sense like an armor all?

Well, the distilled water isn't that big of a deal to use. As someone else asked, if the plastic is wet with regular tap water does the white residue not show up? Maybe some wet sanding will remove the residue from the surface?

I've tried wiping with water but it returns when it dries. I can scrap some off with my fingernail. I guess I'll try 1500 grit and see

Maybe 600 grit was too much? Or your wet sand got hot at a certain point?
The white is definitely throwing me off, the haze coming back makes it look like it was polished with lacquer thinner (I know it wasn't).

The only thing I used was novus number 2 polish. When that didn't work I tried sanding but maybe I was too rough

But was the part hazing white before the sanding (when you used the Novus)?
Can you post a very clear, close up pic of the surface?

If you are still having no love with the legs. Shoot me a PM and I will send you a set of GaiKing legs as your picture doesn't look like a maziger leg.

Apologies...those are actually an old pair of gaiking legs that I practiced on. I picked a complete wreck up at a garage sale a whole ago and wanted to practice before going for the main event lol. I don't get it..I used wet 600 grit and kept it wet the whole time and the haze still comes back even after wiping it down??? I really need to read up more on dealing with plastics lol. Btw, I am still interested in the gaiking wings and a right shoot arm..any chance? My son is totally nuts over these guys the way I was

I believe I have you written down on my parts request sheet. Am hoping to look over that sheet in the next couple weeks to start on those items. Too many things going on at work and home, lol.
With my current Dangard project, I am stocking up on Gaikings that are not complete but have the right side shooting mechanism yet. Some are missing horns, no fists, etc. So, I may have a pile of left-over chests, shoulders, legs, and such after I remove the chest shooter and right arm shooter off of these.

My bad, I mean I need a left shooting arm. I do have a right one . My bad

I think the only way to get rid of the white sanding marks is to shoot it with a coat of clear coat automotive finish I believe the sanding actually reveals the fibers in the PET that were colored.

Use airbrush to paint it.
