Go Nagai to Launch Grendizer Giga Manga in Septembernote: This Grendizer might not have nothing to do with the Mazinger line story so this could be the actual intended original idea of GoNagai making Grendizer as a stand alone story like Jeeg except. TOIE wanted to make Grendizer part of the Mazinger trilogy for security reasons so perhaps we will see how GoNagai takes his design and story in a new level. |

TBH, Shin Mazinger while slow it was good for the intentions that GoNagai wanted to take on the anime and maintain its success, compare to SKL which it backfire quite severly. Im noticing that this Grendizer is sporting element styles from Z Mazinger, so could this mean it might sorta follow that approach? i mean, GoNagai is well know for recycling his materail works for its projects.  |

Well, Shin Mazinger was not successful. It had pretty low ratings in Japan. And we all know why...  Yeah, I noticed the similarity to Z-Mazinger when I saw the picture. Most of Nagai's mangas sport that weird overdone designs. }D |

Thats GoNagai's style, he always recycle old source materials and overdo them Well, Shin Mazinger was not successful. It had pretty low ratings in Japan. And we all know why... Yeah, I noticed the similarity to Z-Mazinger when I saw the picture. Most of Nagai's mangas sport that weird overdone designs. }D Shin Mazinger rating in Japan where never low, he was in a solid six position trough and trough. However note that at the time when Shin Mazinger was been aired there was also lots of anime with extreme fan service (from panty shots to boobs to little girls with serious questionable situations and sex) getting the ratings from positions 1 to 20, Shin Mazinger was in 6 position, an impressive feat compare to Gurren Laggan that was in 7 position for its time which again was facing a lot of Fan Service which is also an impresive feat. The success of Shin Mazinger seal the deal for GoNagai's work like Mazinkaiser SKL, and Shin Great Mazinger to be made at the time. However he made it clear that Shin Great Mazinger will come after Grendizer (awkward decision). I'm assuming this is whats his talking about of the new Grendizer so perhaps an anime of it will follow(if this Grendizer succeeds of course or we see the old Grendizer back, it will depend with Toie decisions). |

Nah, Shin Mazinger's ratings were very low. They tried to blame its failure to capture viewers on the time schedule it was shown at, which was 11pm. However, we all know why it was such a flop... it was a weird Ashura and Koji's mom story, with hardly any Robot action. Even my friend from japan never saw it, due to lack of interest... and she lives in japan!
I don't know where you got the numbers, but just by the statement that Shin Mazinger had a better rating than Gurren Lagann should've warned you something was definitely wrong with them.
But back to the new Grendy, I think it will be a far better story if it stands on its own, without Koji or Mazinger references in it. ;(

Specially GoNagai's confirming that Shin Mazinger secure in the works for Mazinkaiser SKL, Shin Great Mazinger and Grendizer(or Shin Grendizer?) however as i said Gurren Laggan and Shin Mazinger had a hard time because of a lots of anime with extreme fanservice, i think Gurren Laggan had the hardest time because of Queens Blade(first series i think) and there was another one (don't know exactly the name but is about girls in the airforce with flying contraptions on there legs while showing panties shots in the air while fighting). TBH the only reason both this series where in those positions where from either a form of fan service (Yoko in GL) or been iconic (Mazinger Z in this case)but other than that both would pretty much been at the under the 20's easly. But to be honest, is kinda sad to see that the vision in Japan has change to see cool stuff into Fan Service everywhere. hell there is a new mecha anime which the guy gets its powers by grabbing with his hands a womans boobs and has quite a lot of fan servicein it. I hope this Grendizer is the stand alone one(the one that was meant to be before been part of the Mazinger stories thanks to Toie), but as its stands for the looks of the style and design elements and because of GoNagias tracking records im beginning to think this story will borrow the elements stories of Z Mazinger. Just like Mazinkaiser OVA did to Mazinger Z and Great Mazinger,instead of been a continuation where we left off in another perspective, he just replace everyone and takes there stories as his own, would love to see Mazinkaiser fighting Emperor Darkness himself. |

even im not a BIG maz fan.. i dont care if the Japs dont like it coz probably they are overloaded with tons of childish cutie cutie animes there which i also dont care hehe .. i love Shin Mazinger series.. and eagerly looking forward to its sequel..
im hoping my fave grendizer will get his new anime too.. and expect a new toy to follow..

i am intrigued by the new spazer design. What's that cone shaped piece in front of the spazer? Maybe it is like the Gattaiger, which has a similar design. If that is the case, then the cone in the front would be Grendizer's arms. }D |

i agree, if we look closely the front of the Spazer has Grendizer's Harkens in it, so we got Z Mazinger's and Gattiger's elements been use (as expected from GoNagai) most strange design desicion i have to say. the front cone thing in the spazer truly confuse me a lot, granted that Gattaigers arms become the fron red cone, this one for Grendizer becomes a white red cone while his arms are black, color change perhaps?

OOOH!! I love the design! I love every bit of this,including duke's Knightlike design,indeed similar to the Z-Mazinger medieval ancient look.!!Im guessing Nagai went back to his original Spazer concept for Grendizer which was the Gattaiger{Roboizer's ship}.
