SRC Gurren Lagann is a decent enough figure, it's just that the proportions are NOT for everyone (Myself included...I still have mine in its box, being shamefully hidden because I can't stand its wonky proportions and that tiny chip on one of the Gurren Scrander's drills...ugh...damn fall...)
I applaud you for trying to take one of Kotobukiya's kits and making it your own!

I though that's what you were gonna do from the start...also, Blutak?

Well...my idea is maybe to shave the drills' insertion piece a bit and then use something like blutak or something equally sticky but removable and fill each of the drill spots with them...then...well...blutak them on when needed, then remove them and the tak when not needed.

you could try and use some epoxy under the drills and place it on the ports, that way you can have the mold of it as a connection. Another way would be making small little holes on the ports themselves and then add a pin on each drill part to connect it.
