Oh....my.....goddess..... bro, that looks BEAUTIFUL!
It looks so close to anime-correctness (in the anime the Brain Condor is red
and the black parts of the Brain Condor are orange).
You made a wise choice using the Rustoleum brand, as it adheres very well
to that hard plastic surface given the proper sanding.
Your paint job will surely last.
You airbrushed it. Also a wise choice... no streaks, just a nice smooth
evenly coated layer. Excellent technique there!
I can brush-paint my jumbos and not have any streaks, but I could never
get the paint applied as smoothly with a brush as you did with the air-brush.
I love the metallic look and feel of it, especially the metallic blue!
Does the Rustoleum brand have metallic blue?
Or did you mix a small ratio of the metallic silver into a blue base?
The metallic effect of the blue and silver compliment the black
really well, and so all the colors contrast one another so evenly
without overwhelming the appearance.
Leave the knees painted as is, IF that is the same silver as the limbs.
Because the knees bring that jumbo closer to anime-correctness.
Would be nice to see the sword blades painted with that silver as well.
For the mid-section: if the silver on the decal matches or is close
to the silver paint, go for the silver decal.
If you want that jumbo to appear New as a rendition of the original toy,
use the gold decal for the nostalgic appearance.
If the Scrambler Dash wings are still available (on eBay) you should
get them ($40 - $50 bucks on liquidation sale, I believe) as they would
complete the jumbo. Mazinger aint Great without his Wings.
I can't remember who the eBay vendor is for the wings.
If that were my jumbo Great Mazinger, I would give it that paint job
and Not put any stickers or decals on it at all, and keep it anime-correct.
I'm not a decal fan for the jumbos, because then every time when I wipe the
jumbo dust-free the edges of the decals get built up with lint and dust
which could break the edges of the decal thus giving off a dirty appearance.
You're doing a great job on it.
Post pics when its all done and ready for display!
