Talk about inflation. I wonder if they did some adjustments and improvements to this compared to the original.

This re-issue is probably an Anniversary tribute to the original?

No I think they found a few cases of them or something. I haven't heard anything about a reissue.
Overall it is a good toy but it has differences compared to older voltrons and lionbots. There were two versions, gold weapons or silver weapons. I have owned both.
The face is black instead of blue which is a little weird. No missile firing gimmicks. Chrome is really nice, looks like modern chrome, shiny, not metallic silver like vintage chrome.
The red and green lions have fins molded onto their backs. Also, all the lions have a weird color to them, the colors look a little pale/off. My yellow lions were factory new and never fit well. Even though they were fully screwed together, they had a huge gap through the middle of the entire figure.
If I had the choice and money is no object, I'd go Popy Golion. But for most of us it is easier to get a Godaikin Golion, matchbox voltron, or KO lionbot. They all have missile firing and accessories except for the matchbox, but all those versions are great quality and hold up well.

BBTS posts that sales link from time to time for years, depending on when old stock from collections comes in their door.
They do advertise that they buy and sell a bit of vintage stuff, so that's likely what you're seeing there.
Contact them to see if they even really expect to have any to sell you.
The other guys have hit the right points on the set itself, as far as quality, colors, weapons etc. It's nice, and less expensive than legit Matchbox, or GoLion in Godaikin or Popy branded boxing, but may not be as satisfying. It is the same size, weight, and general design as the original.

I fired them an email to see what's up. I guess this will do for now until I can snag a mint godaikin for a fair price.

Man I remember in 1997 when those Trendmaster Voltrons came out, they were so friggin CHEAP. I mean the price, not the toy, LOL. I believe at first they were retail $30 and I bought one, then later Toys R Us had a sale & they were $20 each. I bought 2 more! I took one completely apart, spray-painted all the colored parts white, and put it back together. A few years later I sold my custom "ghost" Voltron on ebay for $50 and sold the other one for $40. I still have one, but I really wish I held onto them. The white black & chrome was really cool looking, and unfortunately I don't even have a picture of it anymore. It just boggles my mind that 17 years later it's being release again, and the retail price is $139!!! Doesn't that seem ridiculous?! I mean it's over $100 more than the toy was originally offered as. Well, with one distinction. In 1997 it was being released as a children's toy to go along with the cartoon, and now it's being released for adults as a collectible. *sigh*

It's NOT being released again. This is more than likely old stock that was found.
