I expected to see no threads for this thing yet, hehe. But I was curious, it's been on the tamashii storefront for a while now, some of you must have seen it. And maybe some of you are willing to purchase it...? tamashii.jp/special/chogokin_jibanyan/tamashii.jp/item/10836/Coming out in February 2015 for 5,184 yen.

And so, the Hello Kitty chogokin now has finally met its match. zozo-mag Hehe, if you consider the Doraemon figures, the Chogokin line is literally getting filled with cats! I know almost nothing about this one though. It's not a robot, just a spirit-cat with 2 tails on fire, which can talk and is the companion of a child in a magical haunted land in a Japanese show for young kids. Which I didn't watch. I don't even know what to think about it...

I never followed that type of anime (the cute animals and such). The only two I've ever watched were "Kimba the White Lion", and "Chobin the Star Prince". Chobin was fun to watch... he was like a "kirby", jumping around avoiding giant enemy robots until he made them destroy themselves somehow. zozo-mag

This Chogokin is a weird entry. Even if right now, there have been lots of weird entries in the line... Let's check the tamashii website. *cough* ahem (releases from 2005 onwards) - gacha gacha Doraemon and 1979 Doraemon reissue. Ok... it's a robot after all, or so they say... - GE-10 Gaiking, from the new Gaiking anime. A'ight. - Gold lightan + all its buddies (reissues of old chogokins). Ok. - Drossel. Cool. - Buzz Lightyear. Pfff excuse me, what? and here's when things started getting weird. We got 2 robot fairies, a robot maid, Franky, fat drossel, a young girl, another girl with a freakin' big gun, a ship, a Franky-tank hybrid, a Toyota Megazord, 2 characters from the Fate/Zero anime, King Mickey, another robot maid, King Mickey recolour, Hello Kitty robo, Tower of the Sun robo, Doraemon combiner, weird armor-dude from Monster Hunter and... ...yeah.

The Chogokin line was never exclusive to robots. During its 40 year tenure this line gave us super sentai human characters, kaiju, vehicles, and other toys in metal form.

True... but maybe it was less weird, back then...? We're getting some robots now as well, in the line. Just... I don't know, Hello Kitty Robo, Tower of the Sun Robo and King Mickey aren't your typical super robot, that's all.

Since when the Chogokin line was meant to be exclusive to robots, when the line was meant for toys made out of metal. Hence the term "Chogokin" which is the special metal used to construct Mazinger-Z, as described in the anime. The way I see it, Robot Damashii and Super Robot Chogokin are the only lines exclusive to robots.

Looks cool, want one even if I'm not too familiar with this Cat... Neither am I, never watched a single episode from the anime. In fact, I'm not even sure if this robotized version is something from the show, or something Bandai came up with, to boost the sales of the thing... But it works for me! Now I actually have an excuse to buy it, since it's a robot, not just a diecast cat, hehe.

Yeah. These gokins are pretty neat if you can get one at bargain price. Nifty little display if you have a small collection of odd and cute stuff.
