We already have about 100 different threads for these toys. Since there is not one definitive thread (which there should be - one thread to outline all the different versions would be nice), I will simply add to the clutter. Saw this for auction. I don't recall seeing this version before. I probably should have jumped on it, especially since it ended at under $100. But I am trying to limit my purchases right now. Anyone familiar with this?

Just noticing the foam tray has divot spots for the extra accessories, instead of blister cards for the weapons set into blank rectangle spots.
Please let us know if this is regular DX sized, or something a bit smaller? Looks full size, not the mid. That would be wild if there was another box version of the mid sized.

At least it has the correct blue face. Only thing different is the belt buckle, is that a Playboy symbol?

Ok I haven't been able to get on here to post pics of this guy but it is cool. Definitely not a variant I've ever seen. The chrome on the black lions upper leg leg is gold and the blue and yellow lions have the removable heads. The tails are grey on yellow red blue and green among a lot of other differences that make this very unique including the V belt and a deeper white plastic than seen on the lionbots. The blue lion has the correct body but the coolest pasrt about this variant is the box art. The toy itself isn't very well made it feels like the Korean knock offs more than the lionbots. I don't know how common these are or how hard they are to find but this is the only one I have ever seen like it. I will upload some pics shortly

Thanks for sharing! Cool how most of the Taiwan and other variants like the above, have a more detailed foam cutouts for specific weapons on the right side, whereas the Popy just has 3 big openings for blister packs of the weapons.

Yes I have noticed that as well. This styro isn't as solid as the other versions. It feels like it isn't as well compressed together. I tried figure out the price this was selling for from what is written on the sticker on the front of the package. I believe it came out to around 250.00 US but I don't know if I was converting the correct currency. Can someone chime in here on what is written on the package and what this sold for originally. I will be selling this off to pay some bills so if anyone is interested let me know

Well just like the old lionbot with the box sticker you posted last year, this looks like it's written in Chinese.
The picture isn't clear enough on the phone when I enlarge it, but that symbol looks like the symbol for the Chinese yuan.
If I am right, the 1499 yuan is like $240 U.S. And the 1000 yuan is about $160 U.S. in today's money. Also the yuan is a subunit of renminbi (rmb).
I can't make out the 25 part in the middle. Can you post a close up of that part of the package?
If you post really clear close ups of all the writing I may be able to have a friend translate it.

The words on the box are Chinese, but the manufacturer is actually from Taiwan. The company used to produce Voltron (lionbot) in Taiwan in the early days (good quality, sharp teeth, V belt), but it moved the factory to China later on. This set is clearly the made-in-China version. The price on the box is in NTD (New Taiwanese Dollar), and the currency is roughly 1:31 now. As a result, NTD 1499 is about USD48.5.

Thanks for the clarification. I couldn't figure anything else out from the pictures they posted. So do they still cost about $50 for the currently produced KO lionbots?

So the KO sets like lionbots and godtrons, protector, are still produced right now. They are usually all sold on eBay for $90-100 shipped.
I wasn't sure if you were from overseas, if so, I was asking you if the KO lionbots etc currently being produced still cost about $50 over there, or if they are more. Was just curious.

Oh, I thought you were talking about this specific set, my bad. Yes, I am from Taiwan. Each of the lately made KO sets you mentioned is sold around USD 70 ~ 80 in Taiwan, which roughly matches the market price on eBay if you plus the shipping cost.

Ok. I figured the sellers weren't making much on them overall. Good to know. Thanks.

The Chinese KO is cool, but I'm still trying to track down a Vietnamese dũng sĩ hesman! If I can find a diecast or plastic version of this knockoff; I'd be sooo happy. Soo rare!
