Sen-ti-nel's blog production sample reviewameblo.jp/sen-ti-nel-info/entry-12122077008.html Guys, just got this in the mail last night, came in EMS in a doubled up shipping box (kudos to Sen-ti-nel). While I want to save this for a special day to fully 'open' the figure, my curiosity did got me taken this guy out of its foam tray and test out some joint tightness and paint quality. My initial impression is very impressive indeed. Paint job is very clean and sharp. Sculpted details are very nice, even the eyes have cool patterns underneath the clear parts, so Sen-ti-nel is not glossing over small stuff. The major joints I tested are tight and snugged, but not overly tight. Feels very much like a Hot Toys Ironman, but doesn't have the hollow limbs feel, and its heavier. Quite a bit heavier actually. The knee caps and feet are diecast, not sure if there are any in the joints. The heft is almost like a mid-size SOC, unlike most 1/6 dolls or figures you normally come across. It does have very complex articulation designs with some small parts and flaps, so moving it around has to be careful. But I haven't try out all the joints and gimmicks yet, so can't say for sure everything is perfect. But from what I can tell so far, we might have a gem here. For those that haven't bought one and missed the preorder a few months back, you might want to act fast while it is still available (maybe on Yahoo Japan auction or random Japanese online shops) with just a small mark-up. This looks like a very small (and lesser known) made-to-order run, and maybe very hard to come by later. Don't wait too long to make up your mind.

Came across these comparison pics at Toysdaily. You can see the size and detail difference from a HT Ironman. Aesthetically, I like the Ultraman design better, with nicer shapes, zero visible screws, and a more Japanese/anime styling. But HT still wins when it comes to paintjob, with its more subtle airbrush shading, metallic finishes, and panel lining (though sometimes can get sloppy). Also, I noticed that Sen-ti-nel preferred to emphasize on the visuals of the figure, leaving all the separate LED electronic switches (4 total) hidden under removable panels, making it more of a hassle to turn the LEDs on & off, in exchange with a much cleaner looking figure. Another interesting thing about the LEDs is that, all the LED units (includes LED, electrical circuit board + batteries) are removable from the figure. You can simply remove them for the ease of batteries changing, or leave them out of the figure completely if you so desire. So no wiring is needed within the figure that may hinder the complex joint system the figure incorporates. Also, looks like Sen-ti-nel will announce what is next for their 12" Hero Meister line on Feb 7th at Wonder Fest Winter. Very curious to see if Ultraseven will follow the lineup, or if we are getting a character completely unrelated.

Congrats on getting him man. I always wanted an ultraman that had mechanical armor and I would have preordered this directly from Sentinel, but I didn't have the cash at the time.

Sentinel's Ultraseven is sooooo good. Opened it this weekend and it is soo awesome. This 12" Hero's Meister line is some Sentinel's finest product ever made, though unfortunately not a lot of discussions or collectors buying them, seems like. Only a couple reviews on youtube, and rarely come across articles or discussions about these.
Mine has a minor flaw, the left forehead has some bad light bleeding when the LEDs are on, slipped in some foil pieces to block the light from showing through, better, but not perfect. Waist sword connector piece is not very secure, but is manageable with certain pose having the left hand holding onto the sheath, which helps lock it down. It's a very exciting piece to look at and fiddle with, though I kept fiddling to a minimum as I don't want any loose joints. The quality and joint tightness is pretty much the same as Ultraman in other words, very good and consistant. If they ever make another one, I'll probably buy more. though I have a feeling this is it for the line. Don't see a lot of online buzz on these releases. It's almost silent in here. I also noticed there are quite a few shared parts, both arms and lower legs. With Ultraseven have a couple extra plates stuck on top of them to look slightly different. but they sure are re-used parts
Here is a video review from Meadeslemicah:
P.S. For those that still want to get the original Ultraman, Three Zero is partnering with Sentinel to have a re-paint/re-issue coming out in a few months. You can preorder it now at Sideshow and a few other places.

I'm thinking about dabbling with this line myself (Sentinel one, not ThreeZero. The latter version is ugly IMO) Wanted to ask how the figures are like, the articulation, are the joints easy to become loose or break, etc. I do have the SHF's one, but want to give the 12" a try. Any opinions is much appreciated. Thanks.

Any opinions is much appreciated. Thanks. Articulation is king on this line. Just dig up some Japanese demo video from Sentinel's Youtube channel. In terms of feel, the joints are smooth and very snug. Has a high quality feel to it. There are a couple small flaps and hinges you need to be a little careful with. However, it has zero ratchet joints, so all of them are friction joints. Which is why I don't fiddle with it as much as I would with a cheaper action figure, even though this thing excels at it big time. It is also a heavy figure, much heavier than a regular 1/6 Hot Toys Ironman. Even though diecast is minimal (wrists, knees, and feet), I suspect that they use quite a bit of solid pieces for the limbs and torso, so the figure is kind of heavy. Feels great holding it, but another factor that can wear down the joints. Also because of its price, I would avoid wearing down the ankle joints and gave them a HT ironman stand. The older Ultraman feels like brand new more than a year later. Honestly, I really love these figures and probably my favorite Sentinel's product overall. From what I understand, Three Zero's IS Sentinel's, with a slightly different red paint and included the option head and some accessories from the metalic red Limiter Disengaged ver. Looks like Three Zero scraped their original sculpt and went partner with Sentinel and used their figure instead. So the re-issue may not be a bad choice if you didn't get Sentinel's initial release. The initial release has a brighter glossy red, and a duller silver, more in line with traditional Ultraman colors. Ultraseven has a more metalic silver, and the red is a tad darker, but still bright. Three Zero's re-issue looks like a deep metalic red.

Thanks a lot for the insights mpchi, awesome stuff there (thumbs up) I really dig this Ultraman, thus ended up collecting their toys. The ThreeZero one, I don't like the face of Shinjiro compared to Sen's and the color... well, it's up to ones preferences anyways. Sounds like the articulations are good. Not going to play around with it, mostly just for display. Once again, thanks mpchi! You have truly converted me into a 12" UM now

Just wanna share good toys among fellow collectors, especially when they are the non-popular picks. Hope you find one with the right looks and the right price. Ultraseven definitely pack more details and a very nice sword, though the original has more light gimmicks and more iconic as the main character of the manga. Take your pick
