Toynami still puttering along with more Robotech goodies. I guess I could use a plushie VF-1? LOL could fly that around the room without breakage worry. The SD Joke Machine new types look kind of interesting, with an inner figure. Seems good news: A new set 1/55 Alpha fighters are coming, based off the Masterpiece design, but without the problematic diecast, will be all plastic, but fully compatible with the previous Masterpiece Betas! Since they're doing a reinterperet of Godzilla, and Voltron jumbos, it would seem nice to have a jumbo SDF-1 to me! Sorry I can't get pics to link, but their Facebook page posts and pics can be seen without login here: www.facebook.com/Toynami

I have all three versions of the Alphas and Betas just the Aoshima ones. The Alphas were crap but the Betas were good and combined it makes for a impressive display piece.

I'm hoping Toynami can redeem themselves for the Alpha's. The Beta's were obviously a higher quality and made from a better factory. For years, I have frowned upon the mismatch of quality when unifying the Alpha's with the Beta's. I heartily agree with Chen that the combined mode does make for an impressive display piece.
When the news broke out a few days ago that we will be getting another run of the Alpha's, I got immediately excited and hopeful. I hope they can get the same factory in China that produced the Beta's to do these version 2 Alpha's. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Toynami 30th Anniversary Alpha's are up for preorder on BBTS now. $369.99 for all three, or $129.99 each

Yeah, I remember the original releases were $75 ish?
The Alpha Masterpiece design was actually quite good, with lots of little great details. The suffering happened due to manufacturing, and weak materials. My Shadow fighter could've been great, but the soft diecast, and thick paint areas, get in the way.
I can see if the design was kept, but more attention to manufacturing details, these could be a really nice toy.

Toynami is notoriously known for having cheap materials in their toys that's why they break easily.

Ouch. Those prices...and for a Toynami product. Easy pass.

Toynami cancelled the reissue Masterpiece Alpha's now. Bummer, I was really hoping they would redeem themselves with these for the nicer Betas they gave us.

The Masterpiece Alpha's by Toynami/Aoshima were bad quality and had a lot of issues. The worst part of all was the disintegrating rubber hands. I was really hoping for another shot at these since the Beta fighter was very high quality. Putting them together is a beautiful sight. But handling the Alpha is another story.

Below picture are my collection of Alpha and Beta from toynami and looking to find Scott Bernard alpha but so far all i see the price are very expensive for it even it has so many issue.
