Garadoublas MK01 3D Printed Figure

The time has come to give this project its own thread.  I'm gonna give it my best shot at making a 3D printed Garadoublas MK01 figure from the original Mazinkaiser OVA.  I hope I can give it the justice it deserves, even if it's just a 3D printed figure.

Here are the three heads of the beast so far:



It will take some time to finish, but at the end, it should be well worth it.

Thanks bro! Grengus is stuck in pre-painting stage, but it may be going back to the drawing board on some things. I've learned a little more since I made it, and I may upgrade it.

[The Great Robot Base]

Thank you for including the printer software screenshot. It has an illustration/anime CGI style to it. Funny that there is a shadow! That must help with visualizing the 3D shape.
The printer technology lets you apply your knowledge of super robot figures and models that you have built up over time. What a cool rendition of the character so far.

I must say, for having picked up on this 3D-print technology you've progressed
by leaps and bounds in such a short period of time.
I remember last summer you were barely becoming interested in 3D-printing
and we were trying to get you some parts made as 3D models for that 3D-print format;
even I couldn't figure out how to scale it properly and to the proper wall thickness
and density. I still can't figure it out.
(netfabb uses Decimal measurements, and I really suck at that kind of mathematics)
But since you now have the equipment it's easier to manage that learning curve
with Hands-On practice while you make these models and print them.

At least now you have an idea of how meshes work, polygons, faces, vertices,
and such things that I encounter when I make my 3D models.
The only difference is I can only make my models for graphics and animation formats,
while 3D-printing takes it a step further and brings out the physical aspects of
the model through its manufacturing process.

You're doing a helluva terrific job there bro!

I should dig through my other hard-drives to locate all of the models I've made,
miscellaneous mecha body parts armors and whatever and stash them in a folder
right here in my laptop in case you or anyone here wants to convert the parts
from my .OBJ file format to the file format required for 3D-print (.stl)
I've gone through so many models, and I always end up deleting or losing
them to system crashes.

Do you remember that 3D rendition I made of F.B. Washington's Robot God Akamatsu ?
Man, that robot has a zillion separate parts which I modeled from scratch with the reference images
F.B. sent me, And then I had to assemble it as a multi-jointed model for posing as though it were
ready for CG animation so that I could turn it into a poster for his book showcase.
Well, a month ago he asked if I still have that model of RGA so that one of his associates
could print it out for an action-figure...... I've been searching all of my hard-drives
for that model, since it was made what maybe four years ago(?)--- I'm so bummed out
because I can't find it in any of my hard-drives.
I've been through so many system crashes and hard-drive crashes, system upgrades
and re-installs that I'm afraid I may have deleted or lost that model during all the
file migrations from computer to computer...

I still cannot find that model to this day. I don't mind rebuilding it, it's just all the hours
I've spent building it and scaling the parts perfectly the first time.
And right now I don't have my CG modeler program installed cos I have other things
to worry about.

I'll search again. And if I also find that Jet Jaguar model, it's Yours.
