I hate my Generation!!! Noones knows anything good anymore, I always get lonely at school because everyone's talking about vine, Marvel, or gossip girl  But noones ever talks about Godzilla,Mazinger,Kamen Rider, or the latest SOC :/ it sucks so bad cause I basically have no one to relate to xD, This is kinda my rant for my fellow teens, and an appreciation to all of Robotjapan who are probably the coolest people ive known  , anyways, have you guys ever felt the urge to talk about these thing with anyone at your work? Its just hard when this is all your into, and everyone else is into "teen stuff". Finally got that off my chest lol...AND dont get me started on finding a GIRL that knows these things lmao |

in your case, i dont find it suprising.
i suggest wait for any toy robot gathering or convention near your area, then make friends with them robot lovers.. these "robot geeks" are not hard to find.
or just stick with RJ boards.

I almost Never discuss my hobby at work. If all I ever talk about is robot toys and anime, people will walk away cos that's all I talk about. When someone talks to e about the same things over and over again I just get up and walk away without notice... ...it's my silent way of telling that person to STFU.  I wish I had more local friends in this hobby; but, I'm also glad I'm alone in my region. I feel greater peace of mind when I'm alone this way cos I can just be ME. Two other RJers live close by but we don't hang out much.  And, besides all that, I'm an old fart... there aren't too many 50yo farts discussing this hobby. We just don't think in that youthful frame of mind sometimes. zozo-mag |

i understand your feeling man your generation is knowing in my country by the (I Pad generation) because they dont focus on the good old stuff and they dont want to they just love new boring things honestly im like you i dont have any one to talk to about SOC or figures in general i knew this guy from university who was into transformers and doing modification on them but he wasnt that friendly, and my other friends really dislike the idea of collecting figures, and they want me to stop doing it the thing is i couldnt care less about what they think im happy in this hobby and i will keep doing it so im basically alone in here too but im happy lol and i have a unique hobby not like other  in RJ i learned alot about this hobby and about robots in general |

Everyone has his/her reasons for joining this hobby.
Unfortunately, some folks cop an Ego in this hobby and they wanna
turn this into a Rat-Race of Haves and Have Not's.
I strongly disagree with that elitist divisive attitude.
This hobby is what you make of it, Not what others think you should do here.
Only YOU can set and determine your own pace in this hobby.
These toys won't last forever, and neither will we.
So lets just enjoy the toys and appreciate them.

I know how you feel, sorta. IRL I don't know anyone who's even remotely interested in the same stuff as I am, but online...yeah, it's pretty much the same.
You go to any kind of an anime circle and you can be guaranteed they're not interested in anything that's older than five years, and even when it is, it'll be some garbage like Gundam SEED - or they think Gundam Wing is the best Gundam ever because it's the first (or worse, only) gundam they've ever seen.
And classic super robots? Well you can just pretty much forget about that.

The only mecha show they probably watched in their lives was Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (and Code Geass, if you consider it mecha), but more because of the characters and story, rather than because of the robots themselves. So as far as discussng the hobby goes, all I have is this forum  |

Oh, how thy pain is shareth throughouteth thiseth forumeth... ok, enough of this butcherish. Yeah, being an anime fan kinda blows sometimes, SPECIALLY a super robot anime fan. Most of the time people get to know I like anime, their mindset immediately shifts towards tentacle hentai. Supposedly to label ME as a pervert, when they're the ones thinking about it... -_- Luckily, the anime community here in Portugal is kind of one big family (everyone knows one another, and whatnot), which allowed me to get in touch with a group of mecha nuts like myself. But apart from it, yeah, most only know about Code Geass and whatever Gainax throws out the door. Evangelion isn't mecha, goddammit!  |

I would've thought Portugal, being adjacent to Spain, would have it's own flavour of super robot fandom...but I guess not.
I guess the only country with a major super robot fanbase is Italy, and I bet they have their own flavour of insufferable.

This hobby can travel as far as you can throw it.... such as a post about it in your Facebook timeline, or even a video on YouTube or Vimeo is cool. Whenever I discuss Robot-Japan to "outsiders" (non-hobbyists) I write the website link down for them. People always seem interested in this hobby even if just for a conversation piece. zozo-mag |
