My understanding is that this large reptillian cyborg figure (large for the Micronauts line) was released by Mego in the U.S., Canada; and Europe by GiG at the very end of the Micronauts/Micronauti line, and saw either low production, or poor distribution (both?) to make it hard to find even back then. The U.S./Canada boxed one is supposed to be almost impossible to find; while the Italian one is still extremely rare. The loose ones that show up on eBay a few times per year seem to always be complete and well cared for. Perhaps this is due to the late release before the line was cancelled, and it was instantly recognized as a rare toy? While it's less rare than the Lobstros vehicle (the one desighned for the Lobros alien to ride in), Ampzilla seems to be more sought after (pricier). I saw these on store shelves as a kid, and passed them over for more Time Travellers Ward

Wow! $650 US is great! In box is very hard, so you have some excellent stuff there. I'll bet if you wait a while and auction the next one it will do well for you too. Congratulations.

Yeah, strange but costly beast he is ****************here's another internet synopsis*** Ampzilla Hailed by some as the holy grail of Micro collecting, denegrated by others as a worthless pile of crap. No matter how you consider Ampzilla, it is a rarity and frequently sells for over $500 on eBay. There is at least one known US Ampzilla, but the majority are imported from Italy and are part of the I Micronauti line. Prepare for the invasion. Ampzilla is armed vehicle to attack. This menacing reptile from the far off planet of Saurian measures a big 7 1/2 inches high and features two head mounted ray gun vaporizers, grizzly teeth and powerful claws for squeezing its victims. Large enough to carry a Micronaut Fantasy Figure inside its ugly torso. www.bugeyedmonster.com/toys/micro/microaliens.shtml

[quote author=admin1 Yeah, strange but costly beast he is LOL! Yes, objectively, I'd probably 'pass' on him if he were new on shelves today, but being wanted by so many other collectors... 'Sharkos' is another rare one released at the same time, only a little less pricey. He's a mechanical shark desighned for bathtub play. Ward

Me, I would ditch that idea completely and buy a diecast MachBaron by Popy. There you have a very VERY desirable robot that is the same price and WORTH every penny.
That is me the Diecast robot man though LOL ;D

Yes, I think Ampzilla is pursued only by serious Micronaut collectors who are getting close to a complete collection. I think Mattz has the same thing in mind as we; concerning a better use for $650.00, because he sold his Ampzilla to buy other toys ;D
