I have been getting more into the line after series 2 came out.
I enjoy the interchangibility of them and Microman.
Have to find the chord to put the pictures in the computer!
Hopefully soon!
Let me know what you have. ;D
Thanks! ;D

3 Time Travellers, 1 Galactic Warrior and 1 Space Glider; do I qualify as a Micronaut collector?

Ed-
Are you talking vintage, or the new 'stuff' that's being put out by Palisades?

My intent was to discover collectors of old and new. There just don't seem to be too many true Micronauts collectors out there. I had understood, second-hand, that the newer releases weren't popular. Then I don't see vintage Micronauts going for that much..... so............ I was wondering if we had collectors out there. Your collection counts JB My observation is that they aren't collected that much or valued that much. Re-issues and amazing new toys have overshadowed the old toys.

I've strongly considered getting into them from time to time, but they just don't look satisfying enough. Their bases are sort of cool (particularly Build Base), but the figures and vehicles just don't look very impressive. They were ground-breaking at the time, being small enough to have so many bases and vehicles, but the figures, themselves, seem no more sophisticated than their miniature Diaclone pilot counterparts. Though I'm still basing this assumption all on pictures, and I'd love to be proven wrong. It would give me an inexpensive vintage toy line to collect!

I had tons of fun with Micronauts as a 70's kid (in mid 30's now). I'd have to agree with Shaxper on the satisfaction issue though, in comparison to other Japanese origin toys. I still pick up the odd Micronaut/Microman item, when they lend themselves to combine/compliment with my current Robot collecting aims. They have a strong enough following for a small revival (Pallisades), and have lived on in comic books (in a much diferent form) for decades. For a good sample of Micronaut die-cast, try the 3&3/4" 'Space Glider' or Galactic Warrior' figures. For brilliant engineering and features, we have to skip forward to the 80's when Microman 'Transformed'... Ward

I'm a serious Micronaut collector based in the UK. I think that the figures are underrated and there doesn't seem to be much interest. I was surprised when Pallisades decided to reissue and even more surprised when I saw they had mucked about with the colours. A good idea to do some new colours along with original colour repros, like Baron Karza, but what did they do to Space Glider? I think the main reason that these toys get forgotten is that they don't have a movie or manga tie-in and Star Wars came along so soon after, sweeping everything aside in its wake. Micronauts probably got a few sales in the big sci fi boom that ensued, but most people collect toys as a sideline to their favourite movies. The Star Wars toy line used the same vehicle-handy size for the figures, but wrwe clumsy and poorly articulated in comparison, in my humble opinion.

In response to Shaxper-
Micronauts not satisfying enough? Look at the design of the mobile exploration lab.
Need I say more?

I'm into micronauts, vintage and the new palisades stuff. In a way its nice that they aren't as popular 'cause it keeps the price down on most figures. Although its still hard to find a vintage Emperor or Red falcon.
The Palisades stuff just wasn't made well. Loose joints, missing pieces and fragile plastic. The new colors were nice but a higher quality figure would have been nicer.

The Palisades figures are complete garbage! It's unbelievable - and they weren't cheap either. I imagine they assumed adult collectors would buy them and not even open the boxes. The designes were decent, except for the pelvises of the Time travelers that were too big and made it look like they were wearing diapers. The Time Travelers left arms break off within minutes, and the horses from the Baron Karza sets legs break just as fast. Completely insulting.
Too bad, though I love microman and micronauts - they look like little roman empererors!

Count me among one of the Micronaut/Microman collectors.
I first encountered Micronauts in the late 70s when a cousin of mine gave me a Pharoid for Christmas. A year later, I discovered that Micronauts were the U.S. "cousins" of Microman in Japan and I was hooked!
Although I lost all of my old Micronauts/Microman figures in garage sales and the like, I started collecting again in 1994. since then, I've amassed a humble collection of Micro Hoodmen (re-issues), re-issue Microman, some vintage Micronauts, some disappointing Palisades Micronauts and more recently the mega articulated Microman line of Takara.
Cheers,
Garvy

Hello Garvy; are you new to the board? If so, welcome! Microman/nauts and Henshin Cyborg are my great obsession along with Aurora models. Please check my collection on the DX board ("hypnotator's horrible hoardings"). Yes those Microforce are wonderful figures with all that articulation. It's a shame they stopped the reissue Micromen though. I think there would be a high demand for Mini Robotman, early Titans, Acroyear Amazon, etc. Keep posting!

Hi Hypnotator! Thanks for the welcome! Yes, I am new to the boards though I have been "lurking" for a few months now. I agree with you on the re-issues. There are just so many great vintage Microman figures that should have been re-done. Mini Robtoman and Microman Geeg come to mind! Although, I'm sure the collectors with such figures would be up in arms as that may tend to bring down the value of their vintage treasures. Ok, now give me time to check out your collection on the DX board! Cheers, Garvy Hello Garvy; are you new to the board? If so, welcome! I've been a Micronaut collector since the beginning. The Palisaides toys had a ton of potential, but without vehicles/sets and the poor QC it was just a shell of waht it could have been.

I agree with you, Dragonclaw, and welcome, by the way. They messed around with the colours, particularly with Space Glider. I don't mind new colour variations, indeed they are a good idea, but they should cover the old ones too. I'm still looking for a vintage blue Space Glider and I would be happy with a repro, but it has to look like the original, not with black arms, thanks. The transparent plastic crumbles when you touch it. My transparent limbed Acroyear broke at BOTH shoulders. Are the Time Travellers as bad? When I was waiting for these to come out, Pallisades put pictures of their Chinese sweatshop on the net, which somehow sucked the glamour out of it all, for me.
