:oWOW! Two of the most dersirable pieces from two lines in one shot...the toy hunting is good in Italy eh, Matz? Congratulations. Your 'used' GRB looks %100 complete, and in great condition (much better than mine). I didn't even know that there was a GIG version (with the first generation Dianauts) IL GRANDE indeed, cool Thanks for showing the pics! Ward

Mattingaz,
How many of the GiGi Diaclone toys were made in Itally vs. in Japan? Is it true some were just repackaged Japanese toys?
Most of my experience is that GiGi made their own toys.

Is it true some were just repackaged Japanese toys? Yes, though no one really knows how many. Certainly, the majority of them were produced by Gigi. Most of the repackagings occured with Powered Convoy (Ultra Magnus). Takara had an overabundance of unused Battle Convoy cabs, which is why the most common Gigi version of Powered Convoy has a red Battle Convoy cab,

On the values of these guys front, here's my $0.02 - all personal, but based on real life! I got a nice GRB a coupla weeks ago - boxed, with all its skinny drivers, but missing one missile and all 4 vehicles, and in Italian 'Il Grande' Gig packaging. Now despite it being vulgar to discuss money - in the interests of keeping hobbyists' negotiations alive I will. I paid $220 for it - a sum that I consider to be a bargain. I bought another a few years ago for $120, which I subsequently sold recently for $265. At $265, I think he was fairly priced - he looked excellent, albeit unboxed, and despite some damage to his chest glass, he was in very nice condition. Based on these deals, I know I'd pay the much-vaunted $450 estimate for a minter!! I can't think of another early Japanese toy of that quality or size that would give you better value!

I'm green with envy over you guys with connections But it's good to see some of this high end stuff still changing hands for very reasonable prices.

How I wish I had connections! I don't even have a good user name! What I do have is a boringly compulsive personality that lets me seek out this stuff - and a fairly understanding wie who lets me buy it! (sometimes)! Just gotta get that Fortress X now.......
