Hello all! I'm sorry if this is the wrong subforum (please direct me to the right one if you can). I recently got back into collecting, and I have an affinity for the weird.
I just learned of the existence of Compoboy, and I must have one.
Does anyone know where I can get one, or have one for sale? Thanks for your help everyone!

This is the correct sub forum I would say.
First off though, this piece is entirely plastic. No diecast whatsoever. They all come with two of the same feet.
Buy one complete, without yellowing. You will not be able to find parts and buying two incomplete ones is too expensive. There's a ton of parts, and some of the parts have parts too! There's a booklet, even an actual little roll of paper (really)! Has an overlay just like the DX popy/godaikins do.
They come up every so often, just not that much. You just have to look around and definitely wait for the right one. Don't impulse buy these.
Also, expect to pay US 300-500, 500 would be for case fresh. I think I paid 350-400 for mine in 2011 (I bought Ed's at the Morphy's auction). I do see a lot of HK dealers try to push 600-650 for them. But while it's an obscure piece, it's not one everyone wants. So value can be subjective at times.
It basically disassembles into the futuristic Hi-Fi system or combines into a robot that moves. That's it. I don't suggest launching the fists as they are hollow. The fingers are partially articulated.
The same toy was recolored as DX Composensei for Batten Robomaru but it is made entirely from the fragile blue plastic but comes with just the robot parts and a microphone. In this line they also made a less complex ST size Composensei with the same reduction in parts.
Both these blue versions were bootlegged in the 80s in several colors and box variants and they sell for a lot as well but I'm not familiar with the quality.

I own the blue DX Composensei, and its a funky toy. No breakage yet, but I only fiddled with it once when I first purchased it. I always thought that Compoboy was made after Compsensei, not the other way around. I could be wrong, though.

Thanks for the info. My thing is combining / transforming robots, but I'm not too into the usual vehicles. Monsters and mundane objects are my preference (I guess I only deal in extremes).
I've looked for Composensei too, but I couldn't find it. I prefer the color scheme of Compoboy but Composensei would be an ok substitute, given how rare these seem to be.
Where should I be watching? So far I'm just following a search on ebay.

eBay or YahooJapan...not really going to see these turn up anywhere else.

I just realized your avatar is Compoboy! I love it. I'm glad I found this community.

Thanks. I had some ideas for who I wanted to use from my most favorite robots but in the end went for something unique that no one else would likely choose.
Was wondering when you'd notice it. Lol

I don't think there is a mini compoboy Ed, but there is the bootleg (in several colors) of the mini blue Composensei that Myles and I mentioned.
