Takara has been experiencing major success with reissues and retools as of late, with Microman, Brave, and Transformers. Now Diaclone is not nearly as popular a toy line and (regrettably) will probably never warrant a line of reissues, but what about just reissuing Great Robot Base? Don't you think there'd be an amazing demand for that? I wonder if Takara still has the molds...

Takara already re-issued plenty of Diaclone toys in the form of the Autobot car recolors (silver Skids, red Tracks, black Sideswipe, Powered Convoy etc). As you say though, the "other" Diaclone toys are less popular (although you wouldn't think so judging by the prices these pieces demand) so we can only dream of these being re-issued. Takara did have a GRB for one of their PVC line of toys. GRB was a chase figure just like the Transformers PVC's had chase figures. I don't know the details on this other PVC line (in fact I can't even remember the name of the line right now) but IIRC GRB was spread over several boxes in the same way as Metroplex and Fort Max were for Transformers. I might have some pics somewhere. Oh, and it transformed! Anyway, I don't really see a need for re-issues anyway. There are plenty of vintage GRB's to be found if you really want one IMO. We can always save up to pay for a masterpiece such as that. The only exception for me would be Diaclone driver re-issues. I'd buy an entire army of those For now, I'm happy with my tiny Powered Suit that arrived yesterday! Whoopie! Devvi

The PVC, GRB sparked some faint reissue hope in me; by way of Takara's awareness of the signifigant toy. I'm undecided regarding reissues...but admit that I'd buy the GRB. I understand that new toy safety rules make some of the older items tough to issue again without changes that might cost too much to bother with. IMO Shaxper, the Great Robot Base is indeed an (masterpiece) amazing toy that stand alone, and sell well on it's own without the TF association, but no harm in selling that angle if it helped get it done

There certainly are many GRBs out there, but few are 100% complete and reeking of newness. For such an amazing piece, I'd love to be able to order one from HLJ for $150-$200 that was dead mint and absolutely new. I'm not a MIB kind of collector, but this is the kind of toy that you really want new and in the box with ALL the paperwork. I'd want a thoroughly faithful reissue, down to each tiny detail.

Hmmm......Takara should release a Transformer of Great Robo Base and incorporate him into the storyline. Imagine the cross-over hype it would create!
