I'm very new to Microman collecting and I've heard from a couple sources that the new figures have a few breakage issues. Such as the ankles are very fragile and some of the joints are very tight, making movement difficult and breakage ensues. Mostly, from what I understand it's the black plastic that's the most susceptible to breakage.
Just curious to know if anyone else has had any problems.

I’ve got a couple of the first Micro Force series and although the wrists and ankles are a little stiff, I have handled mine carefully and they are fine. These figures have many points of articulation and are incredibly poseable for their size. They put goose-stepping Star Wars figures to shame, but are more delicate and can’t be chucked about in the same way.

One of my acroyear figures (newest line)..the red one...was broken at the right ankle, which I noticed after opening the package. Luckily the store I bought it from took it back..the joints are delicate, but I haven't had any other problems with the rest of the figures.

I have enjoyed mine! ;D
The new microman line is great for customization because the parts pull and snap off.
The old line you had to unscrew and be careful to not break the O ring.
I look forward to the new figures!

My Acroyear X Scorl (the red one) figure is fine (save for loose right hip joint). I noticed the claw chassis knob breaking a little bit, so I promptly stopped using so much force to manipulate the pose... whew!

I posted earlier on this thread to defend these figures. I should have known I was tempting fate! I got Scorl out to have a play with, and he broke at the lower knee joint. I blame the new stands. Because there is only one foot peg for the new figures, all the weight of the figure (and accessories, which are heavy in Scorl’s case) goes on the one leg, weakening it. I realized this some time ago and stopped using the stands, but the damage was already done. Don’t use the stands! It’s a shame, because the DaVinci design is lovely. Why didn’t Takara make them with two new figure-sized pegs? There is already a stand for the old figures!

All is not lost! Diamond recently reoffered the Acroyear X series (just this month) and I'm sure you should be able to find it in a local comic book store (just phone around) especially one that also stocks up on toys!

It's actually not the stand that broke them. There was defective black plack plastic used on some of the run for the Master Force series, Material Force Obsidian and TF Kicker.
The figure with black parts have high breakage problem at the joint rings. It seem the cause of the breakage (the reason that cause the already weak black plastics to break) was the packaging. I noticed of the 3 or 4 set I open the one that got squeeze in real tight in the trays with those aweful twist ties were the one that break. This not to say the twist tie broke them, the underlying cause was the defective black plastic. This was confirm to me by a friend in Japan.
With Diamond importing these in large number at cheap price I found it much cheaper just to snatch extra to do repair. I bough extra Ground Master to fix two other figure at about $6.00 it's was much less than trying to glue them back. (and super glue dont' seem to work well with the plastic Takara used for these figures).

My SL Kicker broke pretty much within 3 minutes of me opening the box, and I've considered getting another (cheaper?) fig to replace the knee joints - 'cause bothe broke(!)... However, first, I will try super-gluing the broken parts together, and then re-fusing them with a soldering iron - I have some experience doing that succesfully on other toys, so I figured I'd try that first before buying anything. But, if I were to get another figure to get replacement parts from, which one do you recommend? Another SL Kicker?

My Scorl's left foot broke into two at the ring joint within second of opening the package. I superglued it back together and let it set overnight. I then diassembled the lower leg pieces to slip the foot back on the peg and reassembled everything. Gingerly, I tried to move it up and down a little to see how snug it was.
*snap* Sigh.
My Scorl's left foot broke into three pieces at the ring joint.....
j*ryu "who also lost one of the tiny yellow "ears" on Acrocleve while taking it out of the package. WTF?"

I was pretty lucky with my first two set, but the later one that I got from Diamond Scorl feet were OK but his knee joints blew parts as soon as he got him out of his cramp vacume form trays....I also open several Ground Master and only one was broken at the foot joints You could actually see this if you look in the package of Groundmaster, when the feet sort of twisted and dangle to the right then it's most likely the busted one.
Unfortunately not much you can do but replaced with parts from other figures... it's really too bad with Palisades mishaps you would think Takara would have know to have a better QC.
The Lady set seem to be better and the later reissue of Obsidian (black Material Force guys) also seem to be better. Also I noted that Takara change the packaging for Material guys from twist tie of doom to just bubble shell.
I saw the MF for about $7 at my local Sun Coast video store, I think that probably an easier fix than trying to glue them. The glue don't seem to work well with these plastic and with the joints.

My Scorl's BODY is fine (so far, aieee), but one of the balls that his claws plug into broke within minutes of oxygen exposure. I tried twisting the claw, and the ball twisted with it. Argh. I'm going to try filing the socket on the claw to be wider once I've glued it back together.
Such cool figures, but oh so breakable. *cries*

But, if I were to get another figure to get replacement parts from, which one do you recommend? Another SL Kicker? Apologies for digging this back up TWO YEARS LATER, but a quick search didn't give many alternatives for info on the SL Kicker figure. I just got into Microman 2 weeks ago (hi all!). I was given the Convoy/Kicker set several months ago, and it sat unopened. When I did finally open it, I performed the requisite Posing Of First Microman Toy, and the left knee, which was probably cracked before my friend even got it, gave way. I googled Kicker and didn't find any info, so I looked for some microman figures that might work for joint replacement surgery. I bought 4 Military Force figures because they were cheap, and that started the addiction. *sigh* Then I bought 2 Anime-version Kickers, opened one, and lo and behold, the left knee of THAT one is cracked. All right. To make a short story long.... what glue do I use to reattach the left knee ring piece that broke off? And is that the same glue I should use to repair the anime version knee ring crack? Here are pics of the metallic-version knee ring, and um... some foolery >.> s40.photobucket.com/albums/e240/MB3-DeeJay/Jedi/
